Suor Teodora narra la storia di Agilulfo, cavaliere senza corpo, di cui vive solo l'armatura. Mentre Carlo Magno assedia Parigi, Agilulfo, dopo essersi coperto di gloria, decide di partire alla ricerca di Sofronia, fanciulla da lui salvata quindici anni prima.
