Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things - a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Story
Every moment in our life happens only once, and if we let it slip away, we lose it forever - an idea captured by the Japanese phrase ichigo ichie (pronounced itchy-GO itchy-A). Often spoken in Japan when greeting someone or saying goodbye, to convey that the encounter is unique and special, it is a tenet of Zen Buddhism and is attributed to a 16th-century master of the Japanese tea ceremony, or "ceremony of attention", whose intricate rituals compel us to focus on the present moment.

Ikigai is a Japanese phenomenon commonly understood as "your reason to get up in the morning". Ikigai can be small moments: the morning air, a cup of coffee, a compliment. It can also be deep convictions: a fulfilling job, lasting friendships, balanced health. Whether big or small, your ikigai is the path to success and happiness in your own life. Author Ken Mogi introduces five pillars of ikigai to help you make the most of each day and become your most authentic self.

The philosopher explains to his pupil how each of us is able to determine our own life, free from the shackles of past experiences, doubts, and the expectations of others.

"Life changes fast....You sit down to dinner and life as you know it ends." These were among the first words Joan Didion wrote in January 2004. Her daughter was lying unconscious in an intensive care unit, a victim of pneumonia and septic shock. Her husband, John Gregory Dunne, was dead. The night before New Year's Eve, while they were sitting down to dinner, he suffered a massive and fatal coronary. The two had lived and worked side by side for nearly 40 years.

The day you decide that your life is your own is the best day of your life. There will be no apologies or excuses. There was no one to lean on, rely on, or point the finger at. The gift is yours, it's an incredible journey, and you're solely responsible for its quality. This is the first day of your life. Having a purpose in life is one of the most fundamental human needs. Ikigai, a Japanese concept, means "a reason for being". It refers to living a fulfilling life. Many different activities can provide people with a sense of purpose in life.

The proliferation of fabricated “facts”

Publisher's Summary
These two concepts will transform your life – do you want to learn more?
Do you want to have a fulfilling job that you actually enjoy, a mindful and healthy lifestyle, satisfying relationships with your loved ones, and a clear mind focused on the truly important things in life?
Do you know what stands between you and those things you want?
Your mindset.
Fortunately, you don’t need a complete mindset overhaul to achieve happiness. Just introducing two important concepts will be enough.
The first of these concepts is ikigai. This is your true life purpose, the reason why you get up in the morning. It’s scientifically proven that people who follow their ikigai live amazingly long and healthy lives.
The second is Wabi-Sabi, or the appreciation of imperfection. Wabi-Sabi is not just a lifestyle trend involving lots of asymmetrical hand-made things – it’s an entire philosophy that’s all about mindfulness, being fully immersed in the present moment, and the acceptance of aging.
Finding your ikigai and embracing Wabi-Sabi are two fundamental steps towards attaining happiness. This unique book bundle will carefully guide you through them.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
- Psychotherapeutic techniques that will lead you towards discovering your ikigai
- Scientifically proven lifestyle hacks that will help you slow down your aging processes
- How to gain mental clarity and focus by getting rid of non-essential physical and mental clutter
- How to bring the three principles of Wabi-Sabi into your home and your life
- Bonus: nutrition strategies that will boost your health and help you focus on doing what you love!
By discovering and applying the concepts of ikigai and Wabi-Sabi, you’ll be able to transform your life according to your true values – and learn to enjoy (almost) every minute of it!
Some Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Is Wabi-Sabi just a fashionable name for hoarding?
A: No. Once you’ve mastered the principles of Wabi-Sabi, you’ll naturally tend towards minimalism. Admiring imperfection is not the same as refusing to part with unnecessary or broken things!
Q: I’ve already got a job but I think it’s not my ikigai. Should I change careers?
A: It’s advisable to choose your career based on your ikigai. You’ll be doing the things that you’re naturally good at, so you’ll quickly become an accomplished professional!
Are you ready to transform your life?
