Publisher's Summary

"If the Shoe Fits encompasses everything I love about rom-coms. I laughed, I swooned, I smiled. Another hit for Julie Murphy!" (Colleen Hoover, number one New York Times best-selling author of Hopeless

If the shoe doesn’t fit, maybe it’s time to design your own.

Cindy loves shoes. A well-placed bow or a chic stacked heel is her form of self-expression. As a fashion-obsessed plus-size woman, she can never find designer clothes that work on her body, but a special pair of shoes always fits just right.

With a shiny new design degree but no job in sight, Cindy moves back in with her stepmother, Erica Tremaine, the executive producer of the world’s biggest dating reality show. When a contestant on Before Midnight bows out at the last minute, Cindy is thrust into the spotlight. Showcasing her killer shoe collection on network TV seems like a great way to jump-start her career. And, while she’s at it, why not go on a few lavish dates with an eligible suitor?

But being the first and only fat contestant on Before Midnight turns her into a viral sensation - and a body-positivity icon - overnight. Even harder to believe? She can actually see herself falling for this Prince Charming. To make it to the end, despite the fans, the haters, and a house full of fellow contestants she’s not sure she can trust, Cindy will have to take a leap of faith and hope her heels - and her heart - don’t break in the process.

Best-selling author Julie Murphy’s reimagining of a beloved fairy tale is an enchanting story of self-love and believing in the happy ending each and every one of us deserves.

Light, fun and worthy of a day dream

Hard to listen to this story without smiling. Listened in the car, during Saturday cleaning and Sunday errands. Definitely worthy of a credit!

Best book I’ve listened to in a long time!

I loved this story. It’s so refreshing to listen to something that isn’t all cishet straight-sized people. 10/10 totally recommend!

glad to see more books about plus size girls!

at first I struggled to get into the book and I think it wasn't so much the story as it was the narrator. the story was great this was the first book of this author I had ever listened to and after sticking with it I would probably listen to another one!!

Delightful

Julie Murphy knocks this one out of the park with a reimagining of a classic tale. Cindy is a fully-formed character and completely relatable.

Perfection

I live for these type of books! Julie Murphy knocks it out of the park once again. I hope this one gets made into a movie because I feel like it would become my favorite movie ever. Henry and Cindy are both so dang likable. The entire story flows so well and I love happily ever afters! The narrator has a great story telling voice too. Well done all around.
Get. This. Book!

This one’s just okay…

I love Julie Murphy’s books but, for me, this one wasn’t nearly as good as her other work. I think it was somewhat constrained by the Cinderella theme so the character development wasn’t what I’ve become accustomed to in a JM book. The different take on the stepmother/stepsister relationship was a refreshing change. The narration was a little overly breathy for me and it seemed like it was an artistic choice to try to make Cindy sound earnest and thoughtful. I would also have preferred if the narrator didn’t fall into the age-old trap of making any woman older than the main character sound like a grandma from the 19th century. Cindy’s stepmom probably would have only been in her 50’s and is supposed to be a high-powered L.A. career woman, the voice was far enough off base that I found it distracting. Overall, it was entertaining enough to keep me listening but I think fans of JM’s work probably won’t add it to their favorites list.

Cute

This was a cute story. The ending was a little lackluster but cute none the less. I felt like the author may have tried too hard with this one. Her previous book Dumplin was excellent and the vibe kind of carried over to this book too. Not a bad thing just felt a little forced. I do like how she brought in body positivity. I still feel like the main character could use a good therapist. I'd listen to it again.

Enjoyable Summer Romance

Trendy, gentle and unapologetic- loved the joy and truth of inclusive pop romance that breaks stereotypes. Great vacation read.

I loved this book. Although at times the storyline was a little predictable I was hooked. Love Cindy's character. Great modern twist. Can't wait for more books!
