Story
Best-selling author John Ortberg shares how Jesus' influence has swept over history and how his vision of life continues to impact humanity today. Jesus' impact on our world is highly unlikely, widely inescapable, largely unknown, and decidedly double-edged. It is unlikely in light of the severe limitations of his earthly life; it is inescapable because of the range of impact; it is unknown because history doesn't connect dots; and it is doubled-edged because his followers have wreaked so much havoc, often in his name.

Story
"Who am I becoming?" That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. Outwardly, he appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren’t pretty. So, he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: "Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life." It wasn’t the response he expected, but it was - and continues to be - the answer he needs. Within this audiobook, you’ll find a fascinating road map to staying emotionally healthy and spiritually alive in the chaos of the modern world.

Story
We often think of doubt as the opposite of faith, but could it actually strengthen our relationship with God? According to John Ortberg, best-selling author and pastor, the very nature of faith requires the presence of uncertainty. In this refreshingly candid look at a life of faith, he traces the line between belief and unbelief: less a dividing line between hostile camps than a razor's edge that runs through every soul. His findings point us toward the relief of being totally honest.

Story
In this thought-provoking look at what's really important in life, John Ortberg uses games as a metaphor to help us recognize and play for life's real prize: being rich toward God. Told with humor and wisdom by this best-selling author, pastor, and game-strategist, When the Game is Over It All Goes Back in the Box reminds us that everything on earth belongs to God, and everything we "win" is just on loan. Being Master of the Board is not the point; playing by God's rules is.

Best-selling author John Ortberg dispels the myth that eternal life is something way out in outer space that we can only hope to experience after we die - and that being saved is merely about meeting the minimal entrance requirements for getting into heaven. Instead, John unpacks the reality that the moment we trust Christ, we are initiated into “eternal living” with God as a here and now reality, one that will continue beyond our life on this earth.

Very rarely in the Bible does God command someone to "stay". He opens a door, and then he invites us to walk through it—into the unknown. And how we choose to respond will ultimately determine the lives we will lead and the people we will become. In fact, to fail to embrace the open door is to miss the work God has made for us to do. In All the Places to Go...How Will You Know?, best-selling author John Ortberg opens our eyes to the countless doors God places before us every day.

I'd Like You More If You Were More like Me takes on one of life's most important questions: How can I get closer to God and other people? We were created for deep connections. When people have deep connections, says John Ortberg, they win in life. When they don't have deep connections, they cannot win in life. I'd Like You More If You Were More like Me offers help in overcoming one of the biggest obstacles to making deep connections: the fact that we're so different. Different from God and different from each other.

Publisher's summary
You're one step away from the adventure of your life. John Ortberg invites you to consider the incredible potential that awaits you outside your comfort zone.
Deep within you lies the same faith and longing that sent Peter walking across the wind-swept Sea of Galilee toward Jesus. In what ways is the Lord telling you, as he did Peter, "Come"?
Out on the risky waters of faith, Jesus is waiting to meet you in ways that will change you forever, deepening your character and your trust in God. The experience is terrifying. It's thrilling beyond belief. It's everything you'd expect of someone worthy to be called Lord.
The choice is yours to know him as only a water-walker can, aligning yourself with God’s purpose for your life in the process. There's just one requirement: If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat.
In this Christianity Today award-winning listen, best-selling author John Ortberg pushes you to take the last step that separates you from the adventure of your life. And, as a result, you will learn to:
- Recognize God's presence
- Discern between faith and foolishness
- Not only expect problems, but field them when they come
- Reorient your thoughts about failure and see it as an opportunity to grow
- Wait on the Lord
- And, ultimately, connect more deeply with God
Features discussion questions at the end of each section to enhance your reflection and spiritual growth. Also perfect for small group discussion.

The Most Annoying Narrator, EVER
I love John Ortberg and all his work; I own it all including the abridged version of this title. As soon as i saw unabridged version, mindlessly, i bought it. 5 minutes into the title, and I was unable to deal with Mr. England's narration and annunciation. Dr. Ortberg is a gifted storyteller and a fantastic narrator. I wish that he never allow anyone else touches his audio books and I wish that he would narrate them all. The material is fantastic; read the book in print and buy the abridged version. If you like John Ortberg and his work, stay FAR AWAY from this version of this title.

Life changing book!
This book changed my entire thought process on what it means to find your calling and passion.
The stories he shared were funny and relatable with a solid moral at the end.
I laughed, took notes and bookmarked a bunch of clips.
I can't wait to apply everything I am taking away from this wonderful book!
My best nugget was we cannot try harder at faith, work harder to receive faith, Simply draw near to God seek and you will find!

Inspiring & Challenging
Loved this book! It's challenged my desire for a deeper trust in God. It's so interesting. The author discusses reasons for why we, as Christians, tend to stay in the comforts and security of our "boats." He discusses fear from a psychological point of view in its natural and God-given state and reasons for healthy fear. He also addresses unhealthy fear & anxiety and how to combat it work trust & faith in God. I love his descriptions of different personalities types and why some people can be more prone to fear. His examples and lessons are taken from people throughout Scripture. It's an incredibly intriguing perspective!!! Totally inspiring for me!

I love how Pastor John Ortberg wrote this book with bible examples and scriptures but also his own personal experiences (many made me laugh) which touched my heart and soul and has motivated my walk with my Lord. Also several chapters were useful for ministry to my children — they are getting the book for Christmas. I look forward to reading more books by Pastor Ortberg.

A lovely book
A very lovely book; I find the American accent somewhat irriating, however, on content I found it interesting and inspiring. The Biblical text is a bit missing leading somewhat, but just has to look at the text to whom the author is referring to, to get it right.

Don’t buy if you don’t want to be judged by god
Bought this book on recommendation that it has been life changing for some.
I could not get past the early chapter advising that God will be waiting with a performance review of your life for you, (if you reach heaven) so you’d better make sure you do something good with your life or he’ll have something to say about it.
Well....so much for religion being welcoming and encouraging to folks who haven’t lived a perfect life or are unlikely to do anything spectacular in the future.
For me, looking for a spiritual pathway, this completely turned me off. Despite attempts to persevere with this book I just could not get past this section. I will be looking elsewhere for ‘spiritual enlightenment’ i’m afraid.

Story
Very rarely in the Bible does God command someone to "stay". He opens a door, and then he invites us to walk through it—into the unknown. And how we choose to respond will ultimately determine the lives we will lead and the people we will become. In fact, to fail to embrace the open door is to miss the work God has made for us to do. In All the Places to Go...How Will You Know?, best-selling author John Ortberg opens our eyes to the countless doors God places before us every day.
