Publisher's summary

You're one step away from the adventure of your life. John Ortberg invites you to consider the incredible potential that awaits you outside your comfort zone.

Deep within you lies the same faith and longing that sent Peter walking across the wind-swept Sea of Galilee toward Jesus. In what ways is the Lord telling you, as he did Peter, "Come"?

Out on the risky waters of faith, Jesus is waiting to meet you in ways that will change you forever, deepening your character and your trust in God. The experience is terrifying. It's thrilling beyond belief. It's everything you'd expect of someone worthy to be called Lord.

The choice is yours to know him as only a water-walker can, aligning yourself with God's purpose for your life in the process. There's just one requirement: If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat.

In this Christianity Today Award-winning book, best-selling author John Ortberg pushes you to take the last step that separates you from the adventure of your life. And, as a result, you will learn to:

  • Recognize God's presence
  • Discern between faith and foolishness
  • Not only expect problems, but field them when they come
  • Reorient your thoughts about failure and see it as an opportunity to grow
  • Wait on the Lord
  • And, ultimately, connect more deeply with God

Features discussion questions at the end of each chapter to enhance your reflection and spiritual growth. Also perfect for small group discussion.

It is an excellent book

It is an excellent book. It can change people's life. In our life, biggest enemy is fear. It handicapped our talent, intelligent and capability to make achievement in our life. Never fear failure. Failure is the seeds of success. This is what I??ve learnt from the book.

A book to change your life!

This book is truly life changing! It is challenging, amusing and will get you thinking. The author uses his own experiences to illustrate his points. It is just the book that I needed to hear right now ... it's a God thing when His word comes into your life at the place where you most need it!Do not read this book if you are happy i your rut!

Best 2 hours I've invested in myself

This was the first of many of John Ortberg's books that I have read/listened to. For those not familiar with Ortberg he has a wonderful style of writing that blends humor with the powerful message of the Gospels. This was THE book that launched my business and I am listening to it again for the 3rd time. The term "life changing" has become overused to the point of sounding like so much noise so I will say that if you listen, really listen, you will be transformed and the couple hours will be one of the best investments you could ever make in your life and in knowing the living Christ.

Even better than I expected!

This is one of those just in time books. I couldn't believe how right on target this was for exactly what I was going through at this stage of my life. God is leading me to make a major move 800 miles away. I'm actually excited about the move but the book helped me look at the move with a renewed sense of vigor and calling.

I heartily recommend this book. If you are already stepping out in faith, the book will help you step out even more courageously. If you are reluctant to trust God to sustain you, John will help you gain a new perspective.

Download the book, wait on God's call. Then step out in faith.

WoW!

This book is absolutely what I needed! If you're constantly fooled thinking you're really a man, check out the men of the Word! They sometimes fainted, failed and floundered before they stepped up to be made "authentic" men of God! Ortberg does a marvelous job of displaying Peter as a "go-getter" in today's world of wimps! Go Steve! You're a Blessing to all men who want to face their real fears.
