Publisher's Summary

After three failed seasons and a disastrous jilting, Lady Dorothea Beaumont has had more than enough of her family's scheming. She won't domesticate a duke, entangle an earl, or vie for a viscount. She will quietly exit to her aunt's Irish estate for a life of blissful freedom. Until an arrogant, sinfully handsome duke singles her out for a waltz, making Thea the most popular belle of the season.

The duke ruined her plans, and he'll just have to fix them.

Dalton, Duke of Osborne, is far too heartless for debutantes or marriage - he uses dalliances and public spectacle to distract from his real purpose: finding the man who destroyed his family. When his search leads to Ireland, the last thing he needs is the determined, achingly innocent Thea, who arrives in the dead of night demanding he escort her to her aunt. His foolish agreement may prove his undoing. The road to the Emerald Isle is fraught with unforeseen dangers, but the greatest peril of all might just be discovering that he has a heart...and he's losing it to Thea.

Contains mature themes.

Another very entertaining book. Great narration!

This was a great fun story. I enjoyed Thea quite a bit she was smart, witty, feisty, and beautiful. Dalton was awesome and quite a surprise. They made a great couple. The chemistry was great between them. Real and genuine. There was a couple very nicely written sex scenes, not erotica not rated G, but steamy.

The story line and plot was great. There were a few surprises that I really enjoyed. I don't want to give away any spoilers so I wont. Just know it was a very good story. Well written, easy to follow and had a lot of fantastic dialogue and characters.

As for the narration, Beverly Crick did another great job. The men sounded like men, everyone had their own distinct voice and she reads with a lot of emotion which makes the book come to life.

I do hope to see more Lenora Bell books on audible, I like her writing style, characters and stories.

I totally recommend this book!

Excellent Story, Writer and Narrator. Loved it All!

I do not usually review even the most enjoyable books and popular authors. BUT, this Historical Romance, of which I read many, just had a superior quality and level of story telling content that surpasses many I have read. Everything was done perfectly and enhanced by the excellent narrator Beverley Crick. I had never heard her before the two books in this series, but will look for her now! Her reading and interpretation of every voice was spot on and more important in a romance, her narration of the love making moments were absolutely riveting and sensual, passionate and touching and most important to me not gratuitous, not xxx rated, but tactfully described. So you did not feel like you were listening to porn.
My ONLY wish is that Lenora Bell has MORE novels coming soon!!
Two is not enough for this great romance writer.

Fun exciting series awesome narration and author

I very rarely fashion or write reviews however this new world works very well done narrator was one of the best all right comparable to Ashford McNab and the maiden lane series by Elizabeth Hoyt. Really fun story it's definitely worth the credits and the steamy sex was perfect and classy. Don't listen to the prudes saying that it's not great!!!

predictable even the sex scene

I spent a lot of time during this book saying oh that's going to happen next and then it happened. if you're looking for a cliche romance novel with one solid theme for the evening love triangle then this is the book for you!

Better than the first - Good story & FUN

I knew I would enjoy Dalton's story. This was fun from the start. I enjoyed it more than the first book in the series.

I really like this series. It isn't going to stop the presses - but good solid romance.

The First Was Much Better

The sophomore effort in this series lacked credible passion compared to the first book. Given that this Duke was "experienced" he certainly didn't score any points for originality with Thea. I'd think two teenagers in a car could produce better steam.

Good book

Any additional comments?

I did not read the first book in the series, but the second book was a great stand alone book. It mentioned what happened in the first book, but only as background because it was not necessary to this story. The heroine was most likable and independent. The narration was very good.

Good Read

Great narrator, plausible storyline, likeable characters. Our runaway Heroine didn't intend to run away but I am glad the she did. After the goings on in the first book she deserved to find a place just for herself.

Any additional comments?

Let me just say right off I am very Impressed with the author Lenora Bell. In "If I Only Had a Duke" the Hero Dalton, Duke of Osborne and Heroine Lady Dorothea Beaumont, daughter of the Earl of Desmond have great interactions. There relationship is gradual and at times bit slow. But worth the wait. It's a funny and happy sort of getting to know you and falling in love with you, without all the stupid angst written into a Historical Romance, readers have gotten so tired of. You can see Dalton and Thea as she is called falling love and growing together as a couple. Toward the end of the story they do start to have some very hot and sexy sex scenes but this is after they have begun to know each others desire, hopes and dreams. Its not easy for an author to write H/H that you actually like and come to love. You root for them to succeed as a couple and there individual growth as human beings. The characters are well developed. I just love reading about them.

Beverley A. Crick is one of the Best Narrators I have Ever Listen too!! Bravo Well Done!!

The ending is a bit of a Joyful surprise. The last 25% of the books is artfully and skillfully written. I Loved how the HEA is obtained. I would read bk.1 "How The Duke Was Won": first which is a 5 star fasted paced love story. I Highly Recommend "If I Only Had a Duke" and I can't wait for 4/18/17 bk. 3 "Blame It On a Duke" this is Alice's story!!
