Publisher's Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of If I Die Before I Wake by Emily Koch, read by Finlay Robertson.

How do you solve your own murder?

Everyone believes Alex is in a coma, unlikely to ever wake up. As his family debate withdrawing life support, and his friends talk about how his girlfriend Bea needs to move on, he can only listen.

But Alex soon begins to suspect that the accident that put him here wasn't really an accident. Even worse, the perpetrator is still out there, and Alex is not the only one in danger.

As he goes over a series of clues from his past, Alex must use his remaining senses to solve the mystery of who tried to kill him, and try to protect those he loves, before they decide to let him go.

A stunning edge-of-your-seat debut novel with an unforgettable narrator.

gripping

this book is from the point of view of Alex who is locked in. I think it works very well as an audio book as you feel like you are in that room with him the whole way through. a good listen

Very slow story line

very much struggled to finish this. because he was in a coma I understand getting the medical side in to the book but it just got repeated and repeated.
think they could of done so much more with the characters you got a good idea of who they were but really nothing special. the plot could of been written much better and was very 'bland'. feel like the writer used imagery to make the story more exciting but if the story doesn't have much entertainment to it then alot of the imagery was just useless and wasted reading time.

the guy reading it had a very monotone voice which made it quite boring to listen too. he did speak well at some of the more dramatic points tho.

Lovely story and really enjoyable

Very interesting book which delves into the mind of a person who is unresponsive in hospital. As family and friends discuss his treatment its Unknown to everyone that can hear every single word. Highly recommended

I’m only 12, and I’m not really into these types of book but this, this is amazing!!!!! Best book ever!! Written to perfection as though I can picture the characters in-front of me and I can watch the story unfold in-front of my eyes!!

Fascinating Read that prompts discussion

This is an ideal book for any book club discussion as the story climbs and grips you, page by page.

The central situation is unusual and is crafted with great style and reflects the obvious research that the author has conducted.

I’m confident that we’re going to hear a great deal more about Emily Koch and read a lot more of her stories.

Disappointing

This was a brave idea... to write the whole book from someone in a comas point of view. Problem is listening to it almost puts you in a coma of your own. So many chapters that just ramble on with no real connection to the story. The ending had a good, if unrealistic twist. I also liked the honesty of the ending.

Disappointed

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. The book was slow and there were many inconsistancies. The theory of the story was great but it was not well executed.

Did Finlay Robertson do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

Yes, I enjoyed his style of narration
