Publisher's summary

Conor:

It starts with a drunken text pic. The kind I would normally never send. Only, instead of it going to the flirty hotel bartender, it goes to some random stranger who actually responds.

I tell myself an unexpected night of hot as hell back-and-forth is the perfect way to blow off a little steam while I’m in New York closing an important business deal. Little do I know the man on the other end of the line is none other than Wells Grange: The most controlling, egotistical, emotionless SOB I’ve ever met.

I spend my days squaring off against Wells in the boardroom, and my nights succumbing to the sexy stranger’s commanding texts in the bedroom. Within days, I’m falling for someone I shouldn’t, and I have to remind myself that none of this is real.

Wells:

The first thing I notice about Conor Newell when he sits down in my high-rise conference room is how delightfully nervous he is. Then I see his tie. The same geeky tie that’s held hostage on my phone. The one that belongs to my anonymous late-night texter. And it changes everything.

I should confess. Tell the truth about who I am. Instead, I decide there’s no harm in flirting. After all, once our business is concluded, he’ll be out of my life for good.

The more I get to know Conor, however, the more I start to fall for him. Which is a problem, because I made a vow long ago to never let emotions interfere with my life, either business or personal. Except I can’t stop thinking about him night and day. If it’s only in my head, though, it doesn’t count.

After all, it’s not like we’re falling for each other in real life....

Wow - what a hot sexy thrilling romantic escape!

I have heard a fair share of cheesy man on man romance, and this is definitely NOT one of them. I was enthralled from the first scene all the way through. Realistic and very plausible situations, thrilling secrets, taboo scenarios played out with willing actors. Romance, hot sex, love, friendships, career ambitions mixed with my own inner struggle as a reader made this a very enjoyable and often made me blush, get aroused, laugh and feel! Thanks!

Amazing storyline!

I feel in love with this book early into it and the whirlwind of emotions and desire. Near the end I found my self yelling at the characters in this book to realize what I as the reader had realized. I finished it very quickly and I’m moving ok to the second book in the series.

What a fun and slightly racy read.

This was fun to listen to for sure! A few twist that I didn’t anticipate. Gives hope to us nerdy ones to meet our big city prince someday 🤓

Good listen

I enjoyed this story. Face it, these aren’t overly complex stories... they don’t have to be... but this kept my interest. It does matter who narrates and Pauley’s work has convinced me to gravitate towards books that list him as narrator.

Sexy flirty fun story

If you want something fun, flirty, super sexy, and a teensy bit achingly sweet, you might just like this story! The characters are really likable, even the shark of a businessman who at first glance seems like a bad guy. Given time, these two become a really great pair. In the end there is a period of will he/won’t he, and the solution to the problems they face are realistic and somewhat sweet and romantic. The story isn’t ground-breakingly original, but more like a comfortable pair of weekend jeans all broken in and familiar. Good story to give you a break from the monotony of everyday life and leave your heart with a smile.

A little naughty and wonderfully romantic.

Really enjoyed this story! The far too wealthy cold-hearted business mogul falling for a sweet small-town business owner, under false pretenses… what’s not to love?

They “meet” in the best, accidental, way and I sooo enjoyed their connection. I adore stories where the characters fall in love from a distance, being able to truly be themselves while hiding behind the unanimous safety of a screen or letters. Even better when in real life they turn out to be “enemies” or at the least feel pretty antagonistic towards each other. From The Shop Around The Corner to You’ve Got Mail to IRL, I love them all.

Connor and Wells are both great characters, though Wells has a bit more growing to do than Connor. Still they both learn new things about themselves along the way and together they are pure romance magic! I loved watching Wells fall for Connor and become so emotionally vulnerable. Connor and Wells have great chemistry together(scorching rather, I kid you not), but above all, it’s their intense emotional connection that makes their story so absolutely sweet, utterly romantic and wonderful.

The secondary characters are amazing as well, and I was so happy to get a glimpse of a HEA for Connor’s mum too.!

Narration: Michael Pauley once again shows he's a master at this. What a wonderful narration! He can bring so much nuance to his performance, and it seems there's no emotion he cannot deliver. Loved what he did with this story and definitely loved the voices he did for both MC's!!

Good Stories...

I believe the narrator did a great job. Really made you feel as though you were , live, in the moment. I really enjoyed this story and found myself having to force myself to put it down. I laughed aloud and at times had tears pooled in my eyes. Congrats to the author for such a heart felt story.
