Publisher's summary

I, Woz offers listeners a unique glimpse into the offbeat and brilliant but ethical mind that conceived the Macintosh.

After 25 years avoiding the public eye, Steve Wozniak reveals the full story of the Apple computer, from its conception to his views on the iconic cult status it has achieved today. In June 1975 Steve's curiosity and determination inspired him to build a computer, the first Apple. Six months later, he sold the machine, and for the self-professed 'engineer's engineer', success was imminent. But this story is full of life lessons, critical decisions, huge triumphs and big mistakes.

Steve speaks also of his childhood, phone hacking pranks, working at Hewlett-Packard, the life-changing plane crash and teaching.

Inspiring

It started a bit slow but by the end I felt really inspired. The Book shows how Steve thought and acted and how all his past successes, influence of parents and all the hard work has paid of later when he created Apple and Apple II machines. It is a perfect description how it's not all about talent but about passion and hard work and luck (to have great parents, to see an opportunity). Also be sure to read the last chapter as it feels like a reward for those who persisted to the end of this book :)

Audiobook for fans, great narration by Patrick

Woz story on childhood and tenure with Apple by true accounting, for Woz big fans and for engineers. Woz brings memories from his early years along with a convincing good will intentions and great engineering ideas enthusiasm. The narration by Patrick makes so like we hearing Woz speaking, a very welcomed feature.

Fun and inspiring story on Steve's engineering!

An inspiring story for anyone who wants to ignite the love of programming and engineering.

Gives a great insight in to the passion of a programmer and engineer. It makes you understand the "glimmer" that young Steve experienced that he had thanks to his Engineering-skills... or as he experienced them: Magic skills.

Noisy

The recording has a high noise floor that gets quite annoying, the narrator gives a reasonable performance otherwise.

Fascinating Journey of Innovation and Passion

Hey Steve! Mr Wozniak, Just wanted to say I listened to your book over the weekend, and it was absolutely fantastic! Thanks a lot for sharing all those amazing stories from your early years and how you hustled your way to success. The learning curve must have been huge, huh?

Your passion for technology really shines through the pages. Building Apple Computers and discovering new tech must've been an incredible journey for you.

Oh, and when you mentioned Atari, it brought back some sweet memories! I couldn't resist looking up images of the Atari 65XE, which was my first computer when I was 14.

In a nutshell, your stories are truly remarkable, and I appreciate you sharing them with us! Keep inspiring, Steve! :)

Fantastic Book, lots of memories and true stories from a beautiful era. Oh, I feel nostalgic.

Very Best, Daniel Czarnecki

Good performance, could have used a bit of editing

The performance is great - having listened to a lot of interviews with Steve Wozniak, this narrator - Patrick Lawlor - really captures his energy, happiness and enthusiasm for the subjects as well as talking about them! It truly feels like the energy of Wozniak himself is in there!

However, the audiobook could have used some editing - not having seen the actual book, it seems like some sections are inserts, asides or factboxes not directly part of the story, and it sounds like they are read when they occur on the page, rather than where they make sense in the narrative. Some sections about the Arpanet especially comes to mind.

And as with everything Apple-related (the Jobs biograhphy and movies) there is a lot of detail about the 70'ies, but the 90'ies seem like more of an afterthought - I would actually have loved to learn more about his teaching years! But what is there is greatly told, even though I feel I've heard it all, having seen all those interviews from the years since the book was published.
