Publisher's summary

Told with warmth and wit, I Wish You Happy explores the sometimes-dark complexity of relationships, the transformative power of friendship - and the magic of hope.

Rescuing abandoned animals is easier for Rae than attempting relationships with people. According to her therapist, she lacks a dimmer switch - her energy is either full-intensity on or off. Lately, she's been opting for off.

But the switch flips back on when Rae's car collides with a cyclist, leaving the rider fighting for her life. After discovering the crash was a suicide attempt, Rae invites the victim - emotionally and physically fragile Kat - into her home. Soon, Rae finds herself opening up, not just to friendship but also to the possibility of love with Cole, the crisis worker assigned to Kat's case.

However, Kat's pain threatens to overshadow Rae as their codependent friendship deepens. When disaster strikes again, Rae is desperate to help Kat heal, but the plan backfires, putting at risk Rae's tenuous connections and forcing her to confront the most difficult challenge of all - embracing her own happiness.

What a wonderful book

It only took me two days for this amazing book that I thought was just written for me. What a wonderful story. Thank you so much for writing.

So boring

I really did want to enjoy the story. I made it more than half-way through but just couldn’t waste anymore time on it.

Lackluster

Struggled through this book as it was read so flat and monotone by the narrator. My husband entered a room and said that voice sounds digital like a bored Siri. the story itself was lackluster but that could have been because it was difficult to listen to the reading.

Outstanding! Insightful! Pleasantly Surprised!

I was pleasantly surprised by "I Wish You Happy," a novel that isn't typically in my preferred genre of psychological thrillers. I decided to give this book a chance, especially after purchasing the Audible edition, and it turned out to be exactly what I needed at the time. With all the negativity in the world, I was looking for something that would help me think more positively and feel more hopeful about the future.

This book delivered on its promise. "I Wish You Happy" is a story that emphasizes the power of optimism, hope, and second chances. It's a tale about pursuing one's dreams, being both selfless and selfish, and learning to love oneself. The narrative is uplifting and motivational, encouraging readers to make each day better than the last.

The narration by Teri Clark Linden is excellent, capturing the emotional depth and nuances of the characters' personalities. Her performance adds to the overall impact of the story, making it even more enjoyable and immersive.

Overall, I highly recommend "I Wish You Happy" to anyone who needs a reminder to stay positive, hopeful, and inspired. Kerry Anne King's writing and Teri Clark Linden's narration make for a winning combination that will leave you feeling uplifted and motivated.

Loved this Kerry Anne King book too!!!

Like the other I think 4 Kerry Anne King (KAK)books I’ve listened to in the last year, I felt close to these characters and invested in their lives. KAK has an amazing way of expressing/describing what the characters in her book are feeling and thinking, not each one fully, but the key characters in each book. I always care what happens to the main characters and look forward to listening to each book whenever I get a chance. Each of KAK’a books have something interesting that the story is based around, and it’s always something very unique and interesting. This book included the subject of empathy and empaths. I appreciated many of the suggestions that the main character was told in order to help her with the effects of being an empathy/highly empathic. I can relate to her in many ways. There are always at least a few complex relationships in her novels that also add to the enjoyment of her books. The reader can’t guess the many outcomes throughout her stories; they are complex and consequently intriguing!
The performer Teri Clark Linden is so skilled with creating and maintaining the many characters’ voices. She paces the reading/performing so well. I find myself wondering how much she gets direction from KAK as she prepares and as she’s working through the book. I’m always impressed when one person can create and maintain the voices of so many characters! The emotions that occur in the book are so well expressed, between KAK’s expert writing and Teri Clark Linden’s believable and fabulous performances!!
I highly recommend this book! I have wished there was a sequel after each of Kerry Anne King’s that I’ve read. Thank you to both of these women for this wonderful book!

Nice Relaxing Listen

Easy to listen to and pick up where I left off. Touches on some serious topics in a way that helps them feel normalized. It felt like a very life like story.
