guery Bogue“The world got smaller, my heart got bigger” “I wouldn’t say I have cancer-I would say cancer has me.” MARY BOGUE is sort of a new old friend of mine. She is a fabulous performer and I have been one table away from her in the LA jazz scene for years.

Not until now have I had the opportunity to sit and really become dear friends. Mary is as brilliant as the Aurora Borealis in the skies-- while at the same time a sassy gal who wore red high heels and a red dress ( and hat.. of course) while getting chemo. She wanted to give that chemo some hell—and she did! Mary is a woman always looking for the humor even under the guise of cancer ( as she watched I Love Lucy at 2 am). It was her healing medicine.  

”I realized I am now in the hands of the Universe.” I have known Morgan Ames for years and years. She is deeply seeded in the music world and highly respected by the greats. So, as we have shared our lives a bit, it was a natural choice to invite her to share her beautiful heart with women out there who will benefit from her wisdom on “La Grand Adventure” 

More than another cancer survivor, Morgan is “Dukes up”--as she refers to herself, standing up to cancer. “Pain is the greatest teacher.”  Listening to her teachings will help other women to hand it over and walk through it. Absorb each and every word--I guarantee you will be comforted. 

“I call it my cancer...my little buggers.” Sharon Mcevan Ellis is a gem. She is family as well. Her sister is Angela Paul, and her brother- in-law is Alan Paul, who happens to be my partner in The Manhattan Transfer. We go way back almost 40 years. I was so happy she agreed to share her story with us.

She has a delightful energy and does not sugar coat her cancer journey. Sharon has maintained her uplifting spirit and familiar heartfelt telling of her story with frequent healing affirmations, on and off Facebook. I look forward to her new entries.
