Story
Peter Schmeichel is an undisputed giant of the global game - and One: My Autobiography is his story. As a serial winner and larger-than-life character with Manchester United and Denmark, he rivalled Gordon Banks and Lev Yashin as the world's greatest goalkeeper. Sir Alex Ferguson, having paid just £505,000 to sign him in 1991, hailed him as 'the bargain of the century'. Schmeichel would become a key figure in United's successes during the ensuing decade, starting with a first domestic league title in more than a quarter of a century.

Story
Misconceptions have stalked Andrew Cole like a hatchet-man defender determined to cut him down to size. In the world of modern-day football, his reserved demeanour was often interpreted as surly intransigence. Alongside an aptitude for goalscoring, it was widely believed, ran an attitude problem. In Fast Forward, a candid and inspirational autobiography, Cole finally presents his side of the story.

Publisher's summary
LONGLISTED FOR THE WILLIAM HILL SPORTS BOOK OF THE YEAR PRIZE
In I Love This Game, the long-awaited autobiography of Patrice Evra, the former Manchester United and France star looks back on a remarkable life and career. Having played alongside some of the club's greatest legends, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes, in one of United's most successful eras, Evra has now found a new role as an in-demand pundit and social media star.
But, as he reveals in this frank, often shocking, but always compelling memoir, beneath the surface things were not so simple and he had to fight all the way to get to the top. Initially, it was football that saved him from being sucked into the gang culture of his tough neighbourhood of Les Ulis in the suburbs of Paris. Then, once he achieved his dream of becoming a professional, he had to deal with racism and a notorious dispute with Luis Suarez; he also became a central figure in the infamous 'strike' by the France national team in the 2010 World Cup, and there was the moment he launched an attack against a Marseille fan while warming up.
'I love this game' has become Evra’s catchphrase. Throughout this wonderful book, his passion for his sport shines through and there are revealing and entertaining behind-the-scenes insights about the players and managers he’s worked with, from Sir Alex Ferguson to Paul Pogba, who knows him as Uncle Pat. With infectious enthusiasm and sharp observation, Evra takes the listener where few football autobiographies dare to tread.

Exciting Read
Feels like an honest biography. Candid, with twists for laughter. Unanswered questions answered, which gives Evra’s point on a lot of situations. Especially about the Liverpool / Suarez altercation.

Detailed and Honest
I listen at 1.2x speed. Perhaps some might find Pat's accent confusing (I didn't) but after the switch happens to Ben's voice, it quickly becomes "Pat" again not Ben reading his words, resulting in an engaging performance throughout.
Detailed insight and honest, balanced comments with the help of hindsight showing what a generous individual he truly is. Thanks for sharing, Patrice! ILTG! 👌🏽💪🏽🙌🏽

I love this Man
What a man and what a leader, honest and interesting account of his life.
Reading about his love and dedication to his club, country and teammates is inspiring, wish there were a few players like him at Old Trafford now. Maybe we should re-sign him.
