A Goldmine

I found this book a delightful read. My favorite part- and it's not easy to choose, was the hilariously informative section on how to be a good guest. Make no mistake, the content is not just great satire, but an actual handbook on how to give a successful party. The included pdf files of the recipes mentioned are the icing on the cake.

Ms. Sedaris gives useful tips I have never heard or seen anywhere else. Her narration is top notch and a treat in itself. I can't wait for her next effort!

This is the book you will give for the Holidays.

Hilarious

I listened to this book on a long flight to Hawaii. Amy's strangeness and humor is a precious gift to a world that takes itself too seriously.

I have a physical copy which is everything I could ask for visually. In my head, I hear amy sedaris's voice when I read it. ..But wow, the audiobook really delivered. absolutely hilarious. I can't decide which I love more. if you love this book and or Amy sedaris, you must hear her read it. highly recommend!

Bland, Bland, Bland

I generally like Amy Sedaris' brand of humor. But this title really misses the mark. You can tell it's abridged and the editing was done poorly. Topics tend to be jumpy and some areas get repeated unnecessarily. But thankfully it WAS abridged!! I don't know how much more I could listen to. Basically, this is Amy discussing how she puts on parties for her friends. It includes recipes (seriously!), tips on how to get out various stains, ideas on the types of parties one can throw, and some tongue-in-cheek tips on how to and how not to act while throwing and/or attending a party. A few laughs, but more often than not, just boring background droning. Not Recommended :(

five stars

Amy is a superb narrator and much of the content is surprisingly useful and refreshingly to the point.

slightly amusing

Sorry Amy, but you're not David Sedaris. I love everything he has done, and this was slightly amusing, but I quit after one disc. It would have made a good short essay, but not a whole book. The material was repetitive and the timing was off, even though it was the author reading it. She seems like a nice enough woman, but this just didn't keep my attention or keep me laughing.

you have to have a sense of humor...

If you don't have a sort of off the wall sense of humor, you may not find this funny, I on the other hand, found myself laughing out loud at the park with my earbuds firmly implanted in my ears so that I probably looked like a crazy person. I found it to be extremely funny.....
