If you’re going to take a hike, it’s probably the place to go. And Bill Bryson is surely the most entertaing guide you’ll find. He introduces us to the history and ecology of the trail and to some of the other hardy (or just foolhardy) folks he meets along the way - and a couple of bears. Already a classic, A Walk in the Woods will make you long for the great outdoors (or at least a comfortable chair to sit and read in).

He introduces us to the history and ecology of the trail and to some of the other hardy (or just foolhardy) folks he meets along the way - and a couple of bears. Already a classic, A Walk in the Woods will make you long for the great outdoors (or at least a comfortable chair to sit and read in).

Awesome!
This is a must listen for anyone who enjoys hiking!! Like other reviews have said, you're sad when the book is over because you keep wanting more and more! I loved listening to this book while hiking! It was like he was hiking with us and sharing his adventures the whole time. Great book!

Loved the stories

Enjoyable Read
I am gearing up to hike the JMT in 2019 and was compelled to read about Mr. Grinter's experiences. I enjoyed the book and found myself laughing out loud when he mentions how the Swiss hiker needed to shave his taint to prevent chaffing on the CDT. Good read would recommend.
