Good story; distracting narration and production

I give the following honest evaluation in Christian love and respect.

The book was very good; interesting to hear so much about Mr. Robertson's past, how CBN came to be, and how it's evolved throughout the years.

Mr. Sorbo's narration, however, could have been better. He's a fine actor and a humble servant of Christ, but his narration skills could use some work. Many common words, and quite a few uncommon words and proper names, were mispronounced, often with emphasis on the wrong syllables. Too, many of the Spanish (South American) names were mispronounced, or the same word being pronounced two different ways.

Finally, the production/engineering could've been better. There were many breaks in the audio, where a second (or third) recording (reading) were spliced into the original, but the volume levels between the splices weren't maintained. My headset volume was adjusted for Mr. Sorbo's smooth, softer voice, then a splice would be inserted at a much higher volume level, causing me to jerk the earphone away from my head or scramble for the volume button.

I was eager to enjoy this book about Mr. Robertson, but, honestly, I found the average narration and poor production/engineering quality to be very distracting, often causing me to have to listen to the same segment multiple times before I could get the flow and gist of what was being conferred.

I mean no insults nor disrespect in this review, but the over-all production speaks for itself.

Great, inspiring stories, woven together to convey (what I believe is) a message from God.

Pat has some great inspiring stories in this book. Kevin Sorbo does a great job reading this book. There are a few words I thought were pronounced different, but overall, as an actor, he is able to use inflection and clear speech to keep the reader listening. All the stories have a theme in my mind. I believe there are people out there that God has a message to send through this book, and that is what he did for Pat, and other people through history, he wants to do for all of us.

Great book.

I wasn’t sure what to expect. I can’t say I knew much about Mr. Robertson other then The 700 club & Presidential candidate. I didn’t follow either.
I’m incredibly impressed with the book, the man & his life now after reading it.
It was much more then an evangelical book. It combined aChristian message with the biography of a very interesting man.
If you are either a Christian or a biography buff I’d highly recommend the book.
Well written. Well narrated I’ll be reading/listening to it again, soon.
