Story
Where does a moderately popular internet star who never leaves her house look for potential suitors? Online. Tinder, Bumble, Match.com, OkCupid - I tried them all. My 31-year-old self clicked and swiped her little heart out, leading to more dates than I could count, and more disappointment than I was prepared for. Maybe you can relate. Maybe you know all too well the perils of modern dating.

Publisher's Summary
The audiobook that more than 12 million YouTube subscribers have been waiting for! Shane Dawson's memoir features 20 original essays - uncensored yet surprisingly sweet.
Shane Dawson has always been an open book. From his first YouTube vlog back in 2008 to his feature film debut Not Cool to a cover story in Variety magazine, Shane has documented his life pre-tty thoroughly. We've seen awkward and adorable Q&As with his mom, weight-loss center drama, love life details, and the all-important haircut reveal. We've seen his hilarious spoofs of Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton, and Sarah Palin. His music videos are awesome.
But in his upcoming memoir, fans will finally get a chance to see the real Shane through personal stories that are at once humorous and heartwarming, self-deprecating and totally inspiring. Highlighting key moments of his childhood and adolescence, through his phenomenal success on YouTube, and continuing on to his more recent experiences as an actor and director, Shane's memoir will feature the silliness and satire his fans already enjoy, but it will be even more in depth, more real, and more portable.

Simply fantastic.
It was greater than any expectation I had. As a viewer of Shane's since the beginning, I knew this book would be great although I knew most of the stories before hand! None the less, it was even greater to hear him say a collection of them at once and to hear his true heartfelt voice telling each story. It's great to hear these relatable stories because you know the hard times made someone who they are today! It was an amazing "read" and I would recommend it to anyone who would enjoy a laugh, an "aww" and a "wtf?".

Never heard of Shane Dawson and still loved this!
I listened to this not knowing that Shane Dawson was/is a huge YouTube personality, and having no background on him at all made no impact on my enjoyment of his essays. They are witty, hilarious and completely relatable. His performance is highly enjoyable and he comes across very charismatic that I can see now why he's so loved by those that apparently follow him online.
He's self-deprecating, inspiring and seems like a guy you'd love to just hang out with, especially if you like to laugh so hard you spill Splenda-sweetened iced tea out of your nose.

Too fake
I feel like while there's a lot of self deprecation in this book, there's also a lot of humble bragging and narcissism which was a bit off-putting. 95% of the dialog did not sound even remotely realistic or natural and everything was super exaggerated. I get that a story needs to be interesting and stories need to be spiced up, but these stories seem so exaggerated that it's to a point where most of it probably didn't happen at all. Some of the chapters sounded like they were 100% made up as well, not even like the truth was stretched... but like full on 100% fake (the story with the "same legs" guy...) and it made me as a reader think "does he really think we're that dumb/gullible?" . It really was disappointing because I was actually excited to read about Shane's real life and backstory but instead all it was was a bunch of random anecdotes that all sound like a plot in a poorly written sitcom. But here's the thing, I love Shane and his videos! But this book was honestly a giant disappointment and I just wish it was 1000% more genuine than it actually was. I feel like it was written to sound genuine but it was so forced that it did the opposite. Sorry. The only reason I didn't give it a one star is because it did help me fall asleep at night. (That's not supposed to be shade, that's actually true.)

Shane dawson is everything.
Shane showed a side of himself he never had before. I was hooked through the entire book. Shane narration was very well done but what he wrote was even better. I didn't know what to expect when I started listening to this, but I can say I am throughly pleased by what I heard.
The chapter about Shane and his grandmother was so well written and such a touching point in this book. Almost everything Shane wrote about had a lesson to be learned or a touching story to be told.
Comparing his YouTube videos to this book would be hard to do. They're almost two completely different works. Shane has never been as personal before than he was in the book. The book should a side of Shane that I think a lot more people need to see before judging him completely.
When I told a few of my friends I was going to buy Shane's book they told me that I shouldn't buy it and that they were judging me and made me feel awful for buying his book. Well I think that if they read this book they'd have a completely different view on Shane. Then again I might just need new friends who don't judge and criticize everything I do.
This book was amazing and I understand why Shane pushed us all to read it he should be proud of what he wrote and he should want us to read it because what he wrote was amzing.

Fell in love all over again.
Would you consider the audio edition of I Hate Myselfie to be better than the print version?
I subscribed to Shane when he was still under 1000 subs (I am now 24). Hearing his voice narrate his life is something i think only he deserved to bring to life. She really added so much enthusiasm. The audio is always best!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Shane. Since the begging of his you tube we have all been by his side rooting for him. He has a great outlook on life i adore him.
Have you listened to any of Shane Dawson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I'm sure this is his only book. but i do follow his podcast and videos. he never disappoints. he has a great voice.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was, and i did! .. It was one of those ones you cant put down.
Any additional comments?
Shane, I love you. always have always will. this is a great book i would recommend to anyone. He really helped me feel happy on days I didn't think i would see tomorrow.

Brilliant
I went into this book with an open mind, knowing Shane from his YouTube videos I was curious to see if we would see a different side of,what I have come to know as a complex character.
From the first chapter I was hooked, not only does Shane talk about his many life struggles but he accepts and laughs about them. The pages where filled with comedy we have grown accustomed to, this book had me laughing at two in the morning.
Quite honestly I'm surprised how much I enjoyed this book.
Defiantly worth the read/listen

Amazing in all but one way...
This book is both hilarious and touching, narrated expertly by Shane Dawson himself. His comedic timing combined with the genuine emotion in some chapters make this book a truly amazing listen.
He’s endearing and relatable, sharing his ups and downs with his readers/listeners. If you don’t like Shane before this book, you’ll love him after.
The only issue I have with the book is that it’s not longer! Because of how fun it is to listen to it feels like time is flying by.
All we need is for Shane to publish his second on Audible, that would be perfect.

I wasn't really going to get this, but Shane read it so OF COURSE I did! This was great to listen to, my 'head voice' didn't do the book justice. I laughed and cried just reading the book, but actually listening made that full body laughs and full body sobs. It was certainly an experience, something that I get to do again, amd again, and again.

good.
This was a great book for a laugh! I have been watching Shane for years and I find his voice soothing in a way. I love that he's just like us, a human with struggles. It was a great collection of stories of his life and I laughed at least 5 times in each story. Its a shame the second story isn't on audible! 3/5 just because it was too short hahaha I never wanted it to end.

Eat It!!!
The honest and brutal tales of life growing up as a fat kid. Love, loss, confusion and too much Splenda. Relatability like only Shane could write.

Thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book
Listening to this book felt like hanging out with a friend. I was excited to listen to it each day, reminiscing over old high school stories. It was raw and real and absolutely hilarious.

Great Job Shane!
Just got on the Shane Dawson spiral by watching his latest YouTube videos. (Literally haven’t watched anything else in about 2 weeks). This book has tied up so many things he mentions in recent videos and how they have shaped his funny, yet totally dark sense of humour we see today. SO AUDIO BOOKS ON YOUR NEW BOOKS BECAUSE IM TOO LAZY TO READ. Think of the blind people Shane ! *tear jerker*!

Thank you.
I struggle to read, thanks to a horrific heart condition. SO this has been my saving grace. I need the next one... PLEASE
