Lost in a labyrinth of circus tents....

"Truly unsettling... a great read from beginning to end." (Candace Nola, Splatterpunk Award Winner)

Dave and his four-year-old, Jacob, find a circus tent in the woods behind their house. A strange voice invites them through the dark doorway.

When they refuse, the tent swallows them.

What follows is a nightmare fleeing through a maze of circus tents. Strange performers lurk inside. They want Dave and his little boy to put on a show. The audience: a shifting figure on a platform high above the trapeze wires.

With Jacob perched in the crook of his arm, Dave determines to outsmart the boss of this dark circus, and escape this horrifying tent.

I Found a Circus Tent in the Woods Behind My House is a horror novella from the “darkly inventive” purveyor of creepy places, wondrous evils, and can’t-look-away storytelling, Ben Farthing.

Don’t waste your time or money on this

From the time the tent sucked them in, it want from bad to ridiculous. From digging in the ground and getting splinters to continually talking about how exhausting it was to carry a four year old. One of the worst books I have ever read.

Great story left me wanting more

This was an intriguing tale that I was consumed by from beginning to end to end. My first read/listen of this author but it won’t be my last. Honestly the way it ended left me with so many questions I would read a follow up in a heart beat.

panicked father's love

a short story about a father and son on an adventure gone wrong. they build trust and as a parent I can only hope to be as dedicated. I will be buying a longer knife personally.

this gives me goosebumps vibes
fun adventure
no full tied up ending of understanding how this came to be
to the point and we'll written and preformed

I have listened to two books now and seems to have a bit of a common format.
still though I'm about to read the next book the author suggested

Waste of time

Luckily it was a short waste of my time. Did not enjoy it in the slightest.

Great Concept But....

Unfortunately, I didn't love this book. Despite being short, it seemed very repetitive and neverending. I loved the idea, but it wasn't scary to me... Just a lot of running around with a kid, getting away, being trapped again, etc. Maybe it's scary for parents of young children?

It walked the line of realistic fear (someone's trying to hurt my kid) and fantasy fear (suddenly appearing tent with killer clowns) but didn't do either "enough." In the audible version, I found the child's voice annoying.

The author seems like a nice person, and his concepts are good, so I'm going to try the puppet book next.

This one just want for me.

worth it

Quick and fun, kinda creepy. A good idea brought to be by decent writing and a good narrator. A couple of minor blemishes could easily be polished out, but otherwise, it's fine.

Should be a movie!

I was hesitant using a credit for a book that was so short but I’m so glad I did. The book grabs you right from the beginning and doesn’t slow at any point! Great writing that allows you to visualize the story as the narrator reads. I can’t wait to hear the next one! I hope this gets picked up as a movie or mini-series.

Carnival creepy’s

I am so excited to be introduced to this authors body of work. Ben is incredible. The love that our narrator has for his son is palpable. He does everything he can to preserve his four year old child sense of trust in the world. Dave and jacob get sucked into a nightmarish world of clowns, circus performers, and infinite terror. most of the time you have to pay to get into a circus, this circus you have to pay to get out of. It’s kind of a two men enter one man leaves idea. Dave and jacob have to perform, and the circus ensemble gets to decide who stays and who goes. this is a dreamworld unlike any other I have experienced. I recommend this to people who enjoy Stephen King, and people who enjoy paul Tremblay
thank you Ben, I am so excited to be a strange reader.
