Publisher's Summary

This is my account of life as a hitman from someone who has been doing it for years.

Hitmen commit heinous crimes virtually every day of the week and, in most instances, we don't even realise.

I've been a killer for hire for more than 20 years now, but life as a fulltime professional assassin has never been easy.

There have been close calls, failed attempts and a lot of looking over my shoulder.

And now, I've decided to come clean and seek atonement for my life as a murderer and one of the most covertly dangerous men alive.

This is an account of a life lived between our world and a shadowy underworld of criminals...a life lived under the radar of the law...a life lived in death.

This is the story of my life as a hitman.

Work of Fiction NOT fact

While the anonymous author did a good job of writing a basic story of a hit man as a 20+ year LE enforcement investigator I found one glaring error gave the book away as fiction. That error is that the books hitman brings the same .22 pistol to all his jobs across the globe. Even within the time period of the book it would not be possible to bring the same pistol from location to location, on planes and through customs across the globe. Had he got a new pistol at these locations it would have been possibly believed. There is a book that was somewhat famous for a time called the Hitman’s Guide to the Independent Contractor which was a guide to prospective hitmen. That book was actually written by a housewife not a hitman. I believe this book is of the same. A work of fiction not to be believed.

great book horrible narrator

the good story is ruined by the horrible vocal fry bass voice narrator. like razor blades to my ears. I really can't figure out why anybody, audible or an author, chooses grating voices like this. he sounds like a really bad overdone impersonation of Morgan Freeman. shame

Fact or Fiction? Still a great listen!

Obviously there is no way to fact check a story like this so you either believe it or you don't. Either way, it was still highly entertaining and will make a great movie some day.

Super interesting!

Very interesting book. The author takes you along with him on his story of becoming a hitman. From his childhood, to contract killings, to the end of his career as a hitman, this book covers his story.

Give it a miss

I feel like I’ve completed a service to the public on completing this book. I’ve suffered through it so you don’t have to.

Don’t.
Just... be kind to yourself, and don’t bother.

It’s poorly written, at times eyebrow-raisingly unbelievable and other times actually reaches laugh-out-loud levels of incredulity. I don’t like fantasy as a genre, but feel I’ve been duped into reading a fantasy novel by suffering through this one.

Dear me. It was poor, and not helped by the narration. I genuinely sped up the narrator’s voice because it was grating on my last nerve and I wanted to get it over with faster.

Do not buy it.

The book is full of inconsistencies and lots of BS. He says he doesn’t want to be tracked yet he gives so much info away it could be my granny. Probably the worst book I’ve ever bought.

This is a pack of lies made up by a clown

This is absolute nonsense do not buy this pack of lies.

I suspect this clown has looked at deaths around the world and made up a narrative to fit the news.

The author even used the sas killing on the rock and revolved it to be Spanish police who shot unarmed individuals.

A total farce... absolutely no truth in this at all

Fiction Portrayed As Fact

Interesting tales but complete fantasy.
Some effort should have been made to at least attempt to make it believable.

fantastic.

gripping, maybe to the point of unbelievable. you have 'empathy'! for him and his wife as strange as it sounds. you distrust as he does, get angry with him, 'H' but you see by the ending the your emotions and paranoia have been at play just as much as his

Nonsensical scam-economy rubbish

To immediately address the elephant in the room: This is a work of fiction - none of this "I'm 99% sure". Many situations encountered and most of the underlying facets of the story are lifted (sometimes shamelessly) from film, television and even computer games. Within 15 minutes I was searching the internet to double check when a "popular spy movie" was released to see which was influenced by which. Needless to say, but this book is 8 years older than the other material.

But being fiction isn't this book’s real crime, it's the fact that it's awful, terrible, fiction that's the problem - writing styles change haphazardly, relationships drastically change with throwaway remarks that you're expected to accept without any justification, numerous outcomes rely on law enforcement not following basic procedure, and all of the deaths (ALL OF THEM) involve the victim just accepting it?! Literally, none make any attempt to get away and at least two of them just sit there while he goes about his business setting up the overly elaborate ending to their life.

My final comment on the writing is a deduction that the author(s) were born early to mid-90s, at the earliest. The book is full of tech and pop culture references that are common today but weren't prevalent until 10 years after the book is set - back in the late 90's we were struggling to get 4 bars on our phones in city centres, the only thing you're getting from a phone, in a box, buried underground, in the woods, in Scotland is disconnected. They also display a lack of research (other than tv, I guess?) - the police can't charge you without evidence, they also won't invest money on a 2-year long undercover operation for a suspected middle-aged drug dealer in a small town, paediatricians tend to show up "after" the baby is born, not before...I could go on....

In summary, I will go to my grave in the belief that this book was written by a group of underachieving A-Level students and if I ever hear the words "it had to look like an accident otherwise there would be a war" again I will most likely throw something at the speaker.

Some of the Hits are hard to believe, How do you overpower and tie up with one hand (The other holding a weapon ) two Notorious Russian Gangsters ???
No man would lie on the ground and allow you to roll a boulder onto his head ???
Mi6 would have taken you in for serious Interrogation ?
Fictional !

Terrible

From the narrator to the obviously bullshit story. It has more holes in it than a block of Swiss cheese, and the personal aspect, the agonising marital woes, are beyond irrelevant, they are really unappreciated.

An average Year 10 creative writing students effort.

Fascinating

The Birthing of a hitman, his childhood, family influences, military involvements & how he became involved & shaped to be in this profession. fascinating story and can happen to anyone of us in a similar background. I like the story line, and would have like more details in his planning and execution, but im aware of the need to be discreet as an anonymous writer. narrator was abit slow at times. Have to playback at 1.1 speed. About 3/4 into book. Recommended!
