Publisher's Summary

Includes a bonus track featuring Lecrae's song "Still"!

The untold story of how Lecrae's past nearly ruined his life - until he learned that the wounds we carry point to the healing and freedom we all desperately need.

When all you've suffered threatens to destroy your life, how do you get back to the truth you thought you believed?

I Am Restored is the shattering yet hope-filled story of how Lecrae faced the buried wounds of his past - sexual abuse, physical trauma, addiction, and depression - and emerged more fully human than ever before. With remarkable transparency and vulnerability, Lecrae reveals how at the height of his professional success, his life was spinning out of control, driven by a past that he had never confronted and a religious perspective incapable of meeting the challenge.

In this powerful, deeply personal account, Lecrae provides an unflinching look at the personal and public spaces that are too often places of pain and heartache - culture, politics, family, church - and reminds us that letting go and forgiving is the birthplace for the life of creativity and freedom God has for us. In addition, he shares the transformational yet simple practices he uses daily for mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

I Am Restored is a hopeful, inspiring charge to embrace the lasting healing and restoration available now, because no matter what you've experienced, God is near, he hears, and he's not done with you yet.

Wow! Thanks Lecrae!

I had not known terribly much about Lecrae other than that he had been associated with the Reformed movement and had had some falling out with that movement. What a nice surprise when listening I found that in many ways his story mirrored my own with coming to terms with his own trauma and how leaving this unaddressed was having a profound negative effect on his life. Refreshing to hear about his brokenness and struggles with sin - way to help break the illusion of a spiritual superiority that we often automatically ascribe to our Christian celebrities, to our detriment. There are no spiritual superheroes! All of his children are in need of deep and continual healing (some more obviously than others).

I think God is doing something in the Church through books like “The Body Keeps the Score” - helping us realize that He has made us holistic beings who are affected physiologically by past experiences and that we absolutely need to pay more attention to our emotions as an integral part of theology in practice.
I listened to this in one day and wept at the part of the book where he describes finally becoming transparent with his wife and friends. Loved his heart. Powerful!

Christianity in its purest form

Many times people think to be a Christian means to be free from sinful desires, or lust, or anything that's bad or even to be at peace and that is just not the case. Lecrae bears his soul, even at the risk of scrutiny, to talk about a familiar situation many young, Black, educated Christians find themselves lost in. His journey is a story that needs to be told, and I'm glad someone of his statue is able to tell it. I don't know how someone could read/listen to him and not be moved not just off of preconceived notions but moved to action to create equity around the world.

Thank you

I love the transparency and that you were really willing to share your journey with us when you really didn't have to. God's blessings to you and your family.

Politically Far Left Propaganda

Avoid this book unless you are a far left politically driven person. The author ignores the actual facts about crime that affects predominantly black communities. His discussion of post traumatic slave syndrome for African Americans who did NOT go through slavery completely dishonors those who truly have PTSD from real life trauma. The author says he believes in God and Jesus but agrees with the murder of 40 million human babies per year. Don't listen to the positive Amazon reviews like I did when I wasted a credit.

The Last Dance

This book was awesome! It is refreshing and eye opening to the Journey Of Lecrae.it reminds me of “The last dance” tv show which he coincidentally happened to also mention in the book. But it is really informative to the struggle you’ve seen or assumed on the outside and brought light to the things you’ve seen from him. It also helps you understand where the songs come from without calling out the songs. I really appreciate the story. I connected on many different levels. Different lives but still connects on a familiar level. I think it’s a must read, better yet a great listen because he is actually the reader and it comes across a lot better than reading in my opinion. God bless you Lecrae I can totally relate.. a masterpiece that is unfinished. On of my favorite quotes from the book “what is the point of my theology if it is not shown in my ethics and what is the point of my knowledge if it does not show in my actions!” Not word for word but that’s what he said. Great work!! Selah-

Thank you

This book was everything. I connected on more ways than I could express and am so grateful Lecrae came out on the other side more authentic than ever and more madly in love with Jesus. This was everything I didn’t know I needed and more. Such freedom!
God bless you!

Tears!

As a writer, father, son, in ministry for Jesus, this book speaks to a place untouched by any but God, through the person presence and power of The Holy Spirit. My Pastor strongly urged me the give myself the time needed to read this book, Saying that it is a miracle to have even come by it, indicating that this man is telling your story. I am in awe, and humbled by the power of Jesus. Visceral transparency, honesty and just good diction. Hope to meet this Brother one day.

Another great book from Crae

I’m a huge fan of Lacrae and this was an amazing book. I am so thankful that he was so vulnerable and open about his struggles. I know that probably wasn’t easy to share but it lets me know that God can bring me through my dark times just like God brought Lacrae through his
