One of those days where you just have to keep going

Funny, well written, and engaging, are good words to describe this book. I love the developing characters and the sassy strong female leads. The narrators does an amazing job. I always love it when the voices change between the characters.

Good story, a bit repetitive

Overall, a good beginning of a series. The world building and the characters were believable and funny, despite there being some drama too. However this could have benefitted a bit of editing regarding the repetition; first something happened, then it was explained to different people with the same words, sometimes twice. It does’t make the book funnier though, rather underestimates the readers/listenners. As for the reader, it was ok but not perfect. When the main character was thinking or speaking, there wasn’t any difference between the reading voice. But then again, I’m spoiled by Joel Leslie/Froomkin.

Good if you're a Blain fan

Plot was fine, the setting/world was interesting, and the narrator was good. If you are a fan of Blain's work you know how she writes. If you don't like her writing don't buy the book. Otherwise, be ready for the sameness and habits of this author.

Fun urban fantasy story, not so good narrator

The narrator has an odd way of adding extra pauses in sentences, bad accents, and is way too nasal. The story is pretty fast paced. Not exactly a mystery since they figure out the villain quickly and the motivation for power is obvious. The relationship is the typical Blain romance.

Fast moving story.

Once again Blain has done another fast paced and entertaining paranormal fantasy tale. This time set in the aftermath of WW III. That is the only spoiler I am giving up. Nicole Blessing has a fairly wide range of voices, timbre, and dialects. Her Male and female voices are uniquely distinct an of course add even more to the believability in the tale. Hence the five stars. Yet another addition to my Audible library. This of course will be one that I will be listening to again in the future as I have all of RJ's Audible offerings. C. loved the book narrator was ok

I loved this story. It was an interesting take on post apocalyptic type world. It supposed to be apart of a series and I'm hoping for more stories. I don't know if it's because I listen at 1.5 speed but I wasn't a huge fan of the narrator. She came across as very breathy and the timing/pace wasn't that great.

Great story, strange reader

I love this author and everything she has written so far under all 3 of her pen names. However, this reader drives me nuts, taking strange pauses where there's no punctuation to do so. She reads in her own strange rhythm with little regard to punctuation and it often changes the meaning of the story or attributes something spoken to one character over another. I frequently have to back up the story to see if the story changes and makes more sense if it flows without her pausing. The good news is that she has proper pronunciation of most words. She'd be great if she could just break the habit of near iambic pentameter.
