Try not to listen to those who whisper.

Tommy Roling has a great freelance job, a healthy daughter, and a new city to call home. Plus he's finally comfortable with the fact that he's a werewolf. So why isn't he happy?

Could it be his daughter's "terrible twos", which seem even more terrible because she chooses to stay in her wolf body most of the time? Or is it his growing distance from his family, as well as Nina, his on-again, off-again girlfriend?

Those questions remain unanswered as a group of strangers disrupt the lives of Tommy, his daughter, and his slacker brother. The strangers give Tommy and his small pack a harsh glimpse of the whispering madness that hovers just outside the safe boundaries of their fragile little world.

A world that Tommy just might not be able to hold together on his own.

Tommy is back, still single parenting his now two year old daughter. He and his brother moved to a house of their own because brother was drinking and aunt didn't like

it. They are now running a small pack that have new enemies. Tommy second guesses the way he is raising his daughter, This story is about people with differences and

how others perceive them. This didn't end with a cliffhanger, but it seems a bit of foreshadowing for a possible third book.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed.I enjoyed the excitement the narrator portrayed.

The Good: Good pretty well describes this book, good story, good narration, good overall.

The Bad: The story at 4 stars is fudging, I thought the story had some really weak points, but definitely better than 3 stars. At times the characters came across somewhat stupid and afraid to be werewolves.

Good, not great, there are some weak moments with the story line and characters, but overall it was a decent listen.

Good Book

Tommy, Nina, Burt and Corinne are at it again. The narrator was spot on with the characters. The story moved forward at a nice pace. Many of societies problems were addressed in the book. And yes there was a terrible two who stole the show. She would not come out of her wolf form which caused a few issues. Nina also presented some problems. But Burt with his drinking and just going through the change were not so good. I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review via audiobook boom. I got through this book better thsn I did the first one so perhaps there's hope for book 3.

Good Second Book

This is a third-person installment of single parent Tommy, his big brother, Burt, and his daughter Corin, the cutie-pie toddler (and kicking, scratching, biting, protective wolf-cub) who happens to be my favorite character. I also love the short-haired scribbler who has a particular sensitivity to other people’s thoughts. These flawed characters and others work well to create a kaleidoscope of conflict and betrayal and mayhem and forgiveness and family dysfunction that conjures empathy and, better yet, likability. In the story, we join Tommy and his crew in the quest the source of strange werewolf behavior and in their confrontation with hatred, bigotry, and corporate greed and mass control. The story presents these familiar issues lightly, but also with an air of reality that allows listeners on all ranges of the spectrum to relate. The writing is witty and clever and, best of all, does not get in the way of the story which was chock full of surprises and keeps moving forward until, unfortunately, it brings winds you to the graceful end.

The narrator did a super job with the characters, which makes my gripe with his handling of the role as “story-teller” sound contradictory even to me, but here it is. When he is out of “character-role” he sounds like a reporter, not a “story-teller.”
