Publisher's summary

That kiss definitely didn’t mean anything. It couldn’t have...right?

Micah: Hunter Westing is not who I’m supposed to end up with. The guy might look like a walking wet dream, but he’s got the intelligence of a doorknob and the emotional range of a toaster. Actually, that might be an insult to toasters - at least they’re not usually homophobic. If life were fair, I wouldn’t have to spend more than 20 minutes in Hunter’s company.

But if life were fair, I wouldn’t have lost my best friend and her husband in a freak accident two months ago, leaving me and Hunter as guardians of their infant daughter, Bea.

So here we are - Hunter and me, living together and raising a baby. But it’s not easy - especially not when the past I’ve been trying to outrun comes back to haunt me. The worst part? Hunter won’t stop being nice about it. The guy’s a jerk - why’s he suddenly being all kind and understanding?

And more importantly - why the hell did he kiss me last night?

If you think I’m ever going to forget you, you’re wrong. I’ll always remember what we had. And I’ll always want you.

Hunter: Listen - I never asked for this. I never asked for my parents to scare me into silence, making me afraid to be who I am. I never asked for my brother, the one person I was close with, to disappear on me, leaving only his daughter behind. And I definitely never asked for Micah - sweet, inexplicable Micah, who talks a mile a minute and leaves me torn between aggravation and breathlessness - to come along and turn my life upside down.

All I wanted was to make a life for myself that my parents couldn’t control. To carve out something small and quiet, if not exactly happy. But then Micah explodes into my world and God help me, I - I want him. In ways I haven’t let myself think about for years. But as I learn more about Micah’s past, I know he deserves so much more than I can give. I can’t be the person he needs, can I?

So why can’t I remember that, now that I’m holding him?

Hunter’s Heart is Book 4 in the 8 Million Hearts series. While each book can be listened to on its own, they're even more fun to listen to together. Hunter’s Heart is a 115,000 word m/m romance full of snark, sweetness, and a healthy serving of steam. Enemies-to-lovers and surprise-baby themes. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed HEA.

Good story

This was my first book/audiobook by Spencer Spears and I really liked it. The story is about Hunter and Micah. After tragedy strikes Hunter and Micah are left raising their Goddaughter Bea. Both men has issues that they are working through. They start off not liking each other, not communicating very well. But slowly a friendship starts to develop. They start working as a team to raise little Bea. And soon after both men realize there might be more than just friendship going on. They both trust one another with their pasts. There is some drama that they go through. I did feel it was a little on the long side but overall I enjoyed the story.
I liked Michael Fell’s narration. I had to increase the speed a little.

Love inspires us

I first fell in love with eight million hearts when I read Gray For You. Hunter's heart is a strong follow up, that continues to offer realistic mental health portrayal, as well as what it looks like to grow in communication and boundary setting skills as a person and as a couple. The narrator is the same as the one in grey for you, but in this story and a few others it's been harder to tell which characters which. This is made even more confusing when characters from previous books return with somewhat different accents. The narrator still shows strong emotiand when voicing pivotal scenes in the story.

I love Hunter and Micah

Hunter’s Heart is the fourth book in the 8 Million Hearts series by Spencer Spears. This contemporary m/m romance held my heart as I went through a journey of finding love and family. Micah and Hunter have an enemies to lovers type of lovestory - an emotionally devastating situation leaves an adorable child in their charge and forces tgem to face fears, pain, change and self realizations. Their interactions are hot and sometimes sweet - filled with humor, snark, and steam. I fell 8n love with them as they fell in love with each other.

A Family Created From Love

Hunter’s Heart is the fourth book in the 8 Million Heart series, a contemporary romance series. These books should be read in order for maximum enjoyment, but Hunters Heart could be read as a standalone.

I was so excited to read Hunter’s Heart because I adore Micah. He’s such an interesting and fascinating character that wormed his way into my heart. There was a lot of angst in this book, especially in the beginning; however, it was balanced out by the love between the characters and their sweet moments. The ending was delightfully happy and I only fell more in love with Micah.

Micah and Hunter

Hunter's Heart is book 4 in the 8 Million Hearts series. After a tragedy brings Micah and Hunter living together and raising a baby. I really enjoyed this slow burn story as these two beautiful characters deal with their grief, their past, and move towards the future together. I love how it was never a question whether or not they were going to raise the baby together. I've enjoyed this series and definitely recommend it.
Narrator Michael Fell does an amazing job, so much emotion.

Another solid story in a great series

Loved the sensitive and empowering portrayal of past trauma and a survivor moving on and finding happiness and love. The premise of unwilling roommates thrown together by tragedy worked well and went much deeper than the sort of rom-com setup might lead you to believe. Both characters helped the other find inner strength to grow past the obstacles of their past. Great romance and a great story of personal growth.

Loved it!

I've listened to all the books in this series and enjoyed each of them. In this book Micah finally gets his HEA. He's been a secondary character in the previous books so it's nice to hear his story! That said, though, I think you will still enjoy this book without reading the others. Micah and Hunter have to deal with a lot of preconceived ideas about each other so I really like seeing them struggle to work out their issues. I like that the other characters are present and remain good friends.

Love and overcome!

Hunter and Mica have both been through some serious shit, and one more loss on top of that sends them into a tailspin. At the same time they're left with joint custody of a baby. Sorting their feelings out and getting life back up and running is no small matter, and they cope with it all in completely different ways. What they do have in common is a kind heart, and their love for Bea. I felt so warm and touched, listening to the slow struggle towards mutual understanding and a better future together. I generally get annoyed with characters who continually misinterpret the intentions of others, but Spencer Spears makes those twists both understandable and relatable. And the reciprocal understanding they slowly arrive at is so sweet and satisfying! Looking forward to the next book by this author!
Michael Fell did a rock solid job as always, good choice!

We became a real family

Cozy house-playing love story and an adorable kid. What’s not to like?

Micah and Hunter have to raise a child together after their dear friend and her husband passed away in an accident. Micah doesn’t like Hunter but the attraction between them is undeniable. And Hunted is determined to win Micah’s heart and turned their playing-house into a real loving family. With the help of adorable Bea, may be it will become a possibility.

A bit long but sweet and enjoyable nonetheless. Michael Fell also did a good job narrating the story. Overall, it was a good listen.
