Publisher's summary

The entity who has been called the Witch Hunter is focusing on those who have psychic powers. He has issued an edict to the Tantalarians, demanding that they bow to his will. He has challenged the wrong people, though he doesn’t seem to realize it.

One Tantalarian in particular feels he has an ax to grind with this Witch Hunter. This entity has mentally attacked Terec and singled out the woman he loves to use for his own nefarious purpose. He will not rest until his foe is dead. The game lines have been drawn; the war is on. He might be a young warrior, but he will protect his own. He has nothing to lose but his life, for until the one he loves is safe from the madman, he will stop at nothing.

Adele, a young Earthling, falls in love with the young Tantalarian Hunter Terec at first sight and is determined she will have no one else. One of the Phoenixes connects with Adele, creating changes in her, both mentally and physically, that no one expected.

Adele agrees with Terec's decision to go after the Witch Hunter, although she knows how dangerous his plans are, and she is prepared to fight at the side of the man she loves.

Brian is an excellent narrator

before I will speak about a book and I will because the book is great I think I should say some words about the great narrator that we had in the book he didn't incredible job to make everything alive every single character had it on personality it was incredible I absolutely loved his work
no I will pick a bit about the book I don't really like to write spoilers so I will not speak about the book you can read the blurb of course but I will say that the book was clumsy in a good way it wasn't very precise and I loved it I can't really explain myself very good without making spoilers about the characters but I did like very much the fact that the story never bored me it was absolutely fleering like you are on a ride and every single moment something can happen and this what the book was about for me I absolutely adored it

pretty good

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I was a bit apathetic of the first book. It was slow and I felt there wasn't enough world building for my liking. There was a lot of focus on the sex and relationships. That being said, I'm perplexed by this book. Apparently this is book 3 in the Tantalus series, but I don't see book 2 on Audible. I felt like I was missing a lot in this book. Like what happened between the two books. It seems like a lot. The story, though, was easy enough to follow. As long as you don't care what happened previously, I think this story can still be enjoyed by itself. What I enjoyed most about this book, though, was that it wasn't quite so focused on the sex and relationships. I really liked the whole phoenix thing, as well. All in all, I thought this book was worth checking out.

Terec and Adele - YES

I thought when I read this story, that it was quite a roller coaster, but listening to it told by one of my fave voices, Mr. Callanan, who brings it to life vividly, his many voices unique to each character and reflecting his passion for the craft. The Witch Hunter challenges the one he should not have. Does he lose? I am happy with the outcome. Getting there is quite another story, Terec and Adele along with the inhabitants of Tantalus unite to fight an unseen foe and show us that despite their different backgrounds, love is possible. This series is getting better and better and I can't wait for the next one.

Is the worst over? 🤔🙄

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest unbiased review.

Let's just jump right into this review. For the past three books we have been anticipating the demise of the Witch Hunter. We all know that he's evil and we all know that he is up to no good however we have not really found out why he is doing what he does. Well we have in this book but before this book we didn't have any idea why he was doing any of the things he was. In this book things start to heat up tremendously.

Terec is someone that we met way back in First Contact. He did not have a major role then but we kind of figured that he would have a book eventually. The only thing is I didn't realize that he was going to play a major part in the demise of the Witch Hunter. But before we get into that let me backtrack just a tad bit.

The Witch Hunter decides to change up his MO just a bit. Up until this point he has been getting rid of people with psychic abilities. We still don't know why he's getting rid of people with psychic abilities but this isn't his first rodeo with committing genocide. We do get an explanation of who or rather what he is but we still don't understand what makes him tick.

Now let us get back to Terec and his romance with Adele. We all knew that him and Adele were mates and we knew that they were going to end up being together. Difference was that it would be a long road thanks to Adele's mother, Cara. That woman has irked me from the very first time I met her back in book one. She gives me this holier-than-thou vibe that I cannot deal with. I do understand that she is a single mother and her job is to protect her children but there is a difference between protecting and stiflingly and she stifles her children verses protecting them.

The romance between Adele and Terec was very sweet. One of the issues that I do have with Adele and it seems like all the other young girls within this is that they put themselves in situations to be harmed or get hurt. I cannot stand when a character is doing dumb stuff and it is blamed on youth tendencies. When I was a certain age I did not do certain things because I knew there would be consequences but yet these young girls don't realize that there are consequences and something bad might occur especially with the animosity between the new settlers and the Tantalrians.

There were a lot of twists and turns with in this book and I am all for that. People who I thought were gone forever are not so gone. The Witch Hunter is actually something that or someone that I never ever expected. The Tribunal has a ton of secrets that nobody knew about. I now know where they we're living when they decided to go away for centuries and it isn't what you think it is. I am looking forward to continuing the series and I cannot wait to see what happens.

We learn who the witch hunter is

This is the third book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I look forward to listening to more in this series. I enjoy the world MA Abraham has created. It is interesting and original, and makes me want to learn more about these societies.

The publishers summary does well to outline this book, so I will not say much, except… we learn who the Witch Hunter is.
This book comes to a conclusion pertaining the main story thread common in the first three books. The end of this book brings up a new issue that is the lead into the next book(s).

This is the fifth book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Brian Callanan ) and I would listen to another. He has become these characters and I am glad he has continued to read this series. I hope he continues to read the rest. He good at his job, and brings the stories he reads to life.

There are a couple passages with described sex, but it is very tastefully done. I despise romance novels yet Find these passages tolerable and in fact I think they fit in the story. There is some swearing by one character, but it is not excessive. There is no excessive violence.

Bravo!

M.A. Abraham has written an exhilarating tale of two species pulling together to eradicate an evil villain. The tension and suspense escalate, particularly in the final half. Witch Hunter is at the forefront and the main focus of this story. The intolerant madman, an unseen murderer of telepaths, was introduced in the last installment.

Terec and Adele are our hero and heroine. Terec, intelligent, and a canny hunter who is elected to hunt down the Witch Hunter. Adele, a human, chosen by a Phoenix, is going through a metamorphosis. She is becoming more like Tantalus females picked by the Phoenixes, this transition is unheard of and unprecedented. The romance between the two blooms, their love, devotion, and passion for one another is tangible. So, when the Witch Hunter's attention is caught by Adele, Terec vows do everything in his power to find a way to eradicate this malignant foe.

The storyline is utterly engaging, a roller coaster ride that will engross you from the very start to end. The final battle is fantastically done, you'll be on pins and needles anticipating the outcome. The surprise twist at the end will have us wanting to jump right into the next book.

The series is written so that each installment is interwoven, and the plots proceed to the ultimate conclusion. It's marvelous, enabling the readers/listeners to build a solid connection with all the characters. I suggest you start with the first book.

Brian Callanan emulates the emotions, animation, the suspense found in the pages, engulfing and fully immersing you in this story. He is just that brilliant. I absolutely relished his performance; he is an extraordinary narrator.

Hunter's Challenge is a gratifying story with the necessary ingredient, exceptional plot, marvelous characters, and impressive narration. I highly recommend the series.
