Hunt’s men are forced to track thieves and murderers across hundreds of miles of rough terrain.
Hunt’s Hereford ranch manager has some young bulls to dispose of, and Hunt gambles on taking eight of the two-year-old bulls to a livestock auction to test the market.
Razer travels to Chicago for his U.S. Marshal training while the men in Denver track murderers across Colorado and find the bodies of the stagecoach driver, the shotgun, and a woman passenger. Alive, they find a scared eight-year-old girl who has been hit in the head with a rock and left for dead.
They are forced to take the girl with them when they can’t find anyone willing to look after her while they continue tracking the murdering thieves.
They end up taking her to Denver, and Hunt’s wife takes her home to care for her and falls in love with the girl.
Distant relatives arrive to claim the girl, and Hunt is startled when he realizes they only want to get their hands on her inheritance and have no intention of raising her. The young girl is scared of her aunt and uncle, who have treated her poorly in the past.
Hunt and Beth are forced to take drastic actions to protect the young eight-year-old girl.
