Publisher's summary

“In Hunt Them Down, Gervais has crafted an intelligent and thoughtful thriller that mixes family dynamics with explosive action... The possibilities are endless in this new series, and this will easily find an enthusiastic audience craving Hunt’s next adventures.” - Associated Press

The dark world he’s been fighting against has caught up with him. Will his daughter pay the price?

Former Army Ranger Pierce Hunt is no stranger to violence. Fresh off a six-month suspension, he’s itching to hit a notorious Mexican drug cartel where it hurts, even if that means protecting crime boss Vicente Garcia, a witness in the case against sadistic cartel leader Valentina Mieles. But things spiral out of control when the cartel murders Garcia and kidnaps his granddaughter and an innocent bystander, Hunt’s own teenage daughter.

Mieles wants the new head of the Garcia family on a plate - literally. Hunt has seventy-two hours to deliver, or Mieles will execute the girls live on social media. With the clock ticking, Hunt goes off the grid and teams up with Garcia’s daughter, a former lover and current enemy. To save the girls, Hunt will have to become a man he swore he’d never be again: an avenging killer without limits or mercy.

Great start to a new series...

Pierce Hunt is a former Ranger turned DEA agent. When he's told to take a reporter along on a major bust of a cartel he knows it's a bad idea. When the man uses social media to describe the DEA actions in real time, the head of the cartel is tipped off and the bust goes bad. The reporter is injured and Hunt is blamed. He is suspended for six months and reassigned to Florida.
Hunt's ex wife and daughter are now living in Florida with her new husband. They have unknowingly allowed her to become friends with another girl whose father is the head of a feuding cartel. While on the way to see a movie both girls are kidnapped and threatened with a hideous death on a live stream.
Hunt now has to join forces with and trust a drug lord he had previously busted in an effort to rescue both girls.
This is a very fast paced book with plenty of action.
R C Bray (aka Bon Shaw) is an "A" lister among narrators and he brings his unique style enhancing the listening.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Excellent suspense thriller!

HUNT THEM DOWN was released one month earlier in Kindle ebook format than in audio. The reviews were so strong that I decided not to wait for audio. I loved the book so when the audiobook was released yesterday I decided to let R. C. Bray (narrating using his Bon Shaw pseudonym) narrate it for me. Bray is one of few narrators whose work will cause me to try a new author.

Audible Listener Shelley has already written an excellent review of Hunt Them Down to which I have little to add other than read her review. The novel is a great start to the Pierce Hunt series by Simon Gervais.

Don't mess with Pierce Hunt's family!

What a series debut! Im new to Simon Gervais. This was my first read from him and i wasnt disappointed. Mitch Rapp, Dewey Andreas, Court Gentry and Victor the Assassin. Those are my favorite characters in the Military/Assassin action thriller genre! It's still early, but I can easily see Pierce Hunt joining those ranks. He's different from them though. While the other guys are all assassins or CIA black ops guys, Hunt is a DEA agent. An ex Army Ranger whose daughter gets kidnapped by one of the most feared drug cartel leaders in the world...wrong move! Nothing motivates a father more than his little girl being in danger and Hunt, even as a DEA and law enforcement officer will do absolutely anything and kill anyone to save his girl!
Mr. Gervais does an excellent job showing you who Hunt is; his strengths, weaknesses, his past mistakes, passions and love for his daughter. He shows that Hunt is a human being and like everyone, he has skeletons in his closet. As an Army 11B OIFIII combat veteran and father of 2 beautiful little girls, i can relate to Hunt and his motivation in so many ways it's unreal. As expected, since Mr. Gervais was an Infantry officer and federal agent, he does an amazing job with his descriptions of weapons and intense combat situations. Just one brief example; I get very angry when i read a military thriller and the author uses the word clips instead of magazine. Its sloppy writing and sloppy research in my opinion. Well, none of that in here. Mr. Gervais knows his stuff! The combat and tactical situations are top notch! This novel has the feel of Taken mixed with Don Winslow's Power of the Dog series, yet, Mr. Gervais at the same time makes it his own and unique. What could have been a stale and overused plot and premise was used in a fresh and exciting way. Also, i cant remember an action thriller hitting me so hard emotionally as this one. The brutality and true evil of the world and some human beings is shown in very good detail.
All in all, an outstanding debut of a new action hero that we can relate to. A violent, truthful, accurate novel that will make you want to kick ass but at other times tear up. Happiness to sadness...the emotions are all engaged in this thriller! The next Hunt will be this year and I can't wait!

It wasn’t the worst. But it wasn’t really good together

I always think it’s comical When a male writer writes about a male character with super sensitivity. I find that there’s a lot of female writers that write men better than men do. This book is very melodramatic. The inner turmoil this guy is going through is a little over the top. The idea of the character, and the basic storyline weren’t terrible. I made it all the way through the book, which I guess is something.

I thought it was a fantasy book for a minute. When they were talking about one of the characters winning the Super Bowl within the Miami Dolphins last few years 🤣 That’s a shot at the Dolphins. Let’s go Fitzmagic

BE WARNED: It's Gory ... as all "Cartel" stories

It's "my kinda action adventure story" but it IS very "gory". Lots of graphic violence. My first Gervais book, will definitely try his other series.

There are a LOT of these stories with "off the books" rogue spec-ops guys called on "because no one can do it". Pierce Hunt is one of the better ones. I eagerly await Pierce Hunt's next mission. RC Bray always does great narration...

Look forward to more

Good book. Enjoyed both reading it and listening to the audio voice reading ( good voice fit). First book read by this author. Will probably check out his other series.

Not worth it

I had high hopes for this book, however after listening to 2 hours of the book, I could not go on. The narrator was to dramatic, and not authentic.
The story was so everywhere, and not focused.

Nothing New Here

To be honest I did not finish the book. To much of what I think of as entertainment for a 15 year old,
