Publisher's summary

This is the first book in the romantic western Hunger Series....

Imagine a girl stuck in a dysfunctional relationship. Imagine Texas, the Colorado River, and one morning when the boyfriend is off at a Hot Rod Convention in Dallas with his paramour, she up and leaves town in her pickup truck with her just the clothes on her back.

Now picture in West Texas, a small farm in the middle of nowhere that she inherited in a surprise move from a distant relative - a town with a lonesome café and some wild and crazy local characters she makes into friends.

There will be tensions as a land-grabber tries to take over her farm, tensions as the local hunk rescues her from a dangerous flood, but, as there should be in a good story, there will be tests of her courage and inventiveness; there will be helpers and villains along the way and, of course, there will be red-hot cowboy love scenes.

And when the climax of our story comes along, you will have goose bumps along your spine, wondering if it will turn out all right. Romance, danger, mystery. Everything a good novel should have.

You're going to love this girl.

Hungry in Texas

-

Barbara Jean is escaping an abusive relationship. Her ticket comes by way of an estate left to her by a distant relative. So she crosses several states, ending up in a small town in Texas. After meeting with the lawyer she is astounded with what she is now responsible for.

Rescued from a life threatening situation she makes Waylon. This is where the story really begins…

Also, is she able to leave her 'old' life behind?

At just over 3 hours long, Lisa Blackstone has written a well-developed novella/short story. I liked getting to know the characters, the scenery, the backgrounds and the interaction within the small town.

Stacy Hinkle is a terrific narrator and impressive in her performance of female and male characters. The ability to perform characters of the opposite sex is something that raises my opinion from good to great.

As the first in a series I would like to continue, however at this time (2017) this is the only book available.

I rate this as 4 stars overall.

Warning for a couple of compromising adults only scenes, a bit of strong language too.

*I received this work in exchange for my review; good, bad or meh. I've written all 3 kinds.

Hungry in Texas

Any additional comments?

Hungry in texas is a short story so it's not long enough to develop the characters very much. I really liked the story, but I wish it was longer to really follow the story.
