Humans of Brooklyn is one of those rare audiobooks that stays with you long after you take off your headphones. Each story feels like a small universe, and the narrator brings such warmth, nuance, and presence that you almost forget you’re listening to a performance, it feels like you’re being spoken to directly, personally.

The voices in this collection are extraordinary, but two stories in particular struck me deeply: the Russian woman and the Syrian man.
