Story
Neil Thompson had promised his grandmother that he would wait for his grandfather to bring him to see the great oceangoing ships at the docks in Liverpool, England. But when he convinced himself that it was okay to go alone, he did not know the danger he would face on that bright morning in September 1853. The docks were no place for a 12-year-old boy who was alone. Stopping to admire a small clipper ship, the Dumfries, Neil is suddenly grabbed and dragged aboard the ship, then locked in a small, dark room until the ship is on its way to sea.

Publisher's Summary
Hudson Taylor was a sickly child. He was often ill and had very poor eyesight. But God chose him to evangelize the Chinese. So, at the age of 21, Hudson Taylor left the United Kingdom to sail half way around the world to China. Why did he do this? He did it to tell the Chinese people about the good news of Jesus Christ and to give them a message of hope. This story covers Hudson's childhood and traumatic teenage years as well as his life as a well-known pioneer missionary.

A beautifully narrated story about Hudson Taylor told through his letters and journal extracts from his mother and sister
The audio book was a joy to listen to and gives insight into the life of a man of God who stood firm to his calling despite the odds being against him at times. A testimony of the power of prayer and what can be achieved when we put our trust in the one true living God.
The final chapter also gives thoughtful bible passages for further reflection.
A great little book which has left me wanting to find out more about the life of Hudson Taylor and his family and to invest more time in prayer!
