Publisher's Summary

You're worried about raising your kids, and you haven't found the right solution?
You have the impression that you don't understand your teenage children, and you don't know why?
You worry about their future, but you don't know which way to go?

Raising a teenager can be a handful for any parent, however good we are with our children. As the children get in their teenage years, it is a tug of war, and parents are constantly worried about what might become of their children. If you find yourself dealing with these struggles, then How to improve teens and parents relationships will help you. Teenage children, especially boys and girls aged 13-17, grow up quickly from week to week. They are likely to "challenge" adults, and understand and discover more about the world around them. And this reaction often leads parents to despair and the feeling of losing control over their teenage children. This book will also prove to be of great benefit to parents with toddlers in educating them on how to raise their children right from the womb to avoid conflicts in their behavior at the teenage stage of growth.

The teenage years are a very sensitive stage of growth, and it is inevitable for every parent to raise their children through it. Adolescents face challenges relating to their physical appearance, cognition, and emotions. Most parents are always in conflict with teenagers; whereby, some find it difficult handling their own children. However, it doesn’t have to be so difficult for you. This book will give you all the information you require regarding the relationship struggles you experience in helping you go through the teenage stage with your children and emerging with a responsible adult.

Among the issues addressed in the book are:

  • The problems teenagers face as they develop into adults that make them act as they do in terms of rebellions and other extreme behaviors. Such issues are self-esteem, the divorce of parents, among others, and how to parent your teenage child through the conflicts.
  • How and why the relationship changes as a child go into teenage. It also defines how you could restore the close relationship you once shared with your child.
  • The challenges that teenagers encounter ranging for health issues, obesity, eating disorders, bullying, and academic-related problems among other and the role a parent should play in helping the child not to lose themselves along the way.
  • The different parenting techniques and what is recommended by psychologists as the best way to parent a child. Through listening to this book, you will come face to face with what you have been doing wrong as a parent.
  • How to deal with issues of indiscipline in your child along with dos and don’ts.
  • How to help your child in a path of faith and finding their own spirituality
  • The social media in relation to teenage development: How the parent can control their children from being adversely affected by social media. The issue of cyberbullying is looked into in-depth. How the parent can help the child from being bullied.

Good one

This is a wonderful and interactive book. It’s easy to read and keeps your attention. I love all the ideas and sceneries they go over while teaching you how to be respectful to your child when they’re driving you bonkers. Ive applies several techniques to daily life, while others will take time adjusting to. Highly recommend

Improve relationship among both of them

This book completely transformed my relationship with my children. It also improved the communication between my husband and I! By treating our children like human beings with real emotions, and helping them realize just how valuable and competent they are with respect and praise, you are raising confident, emotionally stable children with integrity and some really great communication skills. All without harsh punishments! I can't recommend this book enough. Both you and your children will get some valuable life skills to improve all of your relationships, and your journey through parenting will become much more enjoyable.

Excellent book

I recommend this book to anyone who is tired of sounding like a broken record! Remain patient with your kids and yourself! Well organized book with concrete instructions. Not a lot of psychoanalytic babble.

Increase self esteem

Finally a book with realistic, plain advice. It helps that the writers can be honest about how hard it is to change what you do. I checked out a ton of books from the library and read quite a few, and this was hands down my favorite (so much that I bought my own copy to re-read when the times get tough)

Highly recommended

Not much in here about your child being a special unicorn, just plain simple ways to improve communication between parents and children to increase the peace at home. Loved it. This is my second time purchasing this book.

Very informative

This is the best parenting book I've ever read. I'm a family physician, and I have two boys, one and three years. Mornings are less stressful with fewer tantrums since reading this book. I have recommended it to many patients. In a nutshell, it's about treating your children like you would want to be treated rather than training them like dogs.

Good book

Liked the book a lot. It has taught me tips and tricks and now my communication with my child has grown significantly better. It helped me, a person that really sucks at establishing communication. I’m a first time parent and really, I have never even bothered to get along with kids because, even as a kid myself, I didn’t like them. That has changed ever since I became a mom. So it really serves it’s purpose to talk so my child can listen to what I say and I can listen to what he says.

Excellent one

I first got the audio book from the library and it changes how you think and handle situations with your kids. So many times throughout the book I realized how much I was creating the problem instead of helping. After I listened to the book, I wanted to hard copy so I can flip back and reference certain items and write in the book. I highly recommend this book, it will change your perspective and your relationship with your kids.

Increase self esteem between parents and teens

This is such a good book. Very simple ideas that have worked for me. I have been able to use the acknowledgement of feelings on my 6 yr old as well as the drawing out feelings and have avoided his usual tantrums. My 9yr old knows something is up and im not being my usual self, but I do believe she will come around.

Communication developer

Best book ever written for working with both kids and adults!! It is a quick read, then you can start to work through it as you need. Changed my conversations with my sons and greatly improved how I addressed any issues with adults. Highly recommend.

Very informative

I personally read this book as an adult, and it made so much sense to me that I went back and read the original 5 Love Languages. For me, even though I'm no longer a teen, I preferred this book over the "adult" version! I thought it was a helpful book, and I shared it with my sister. She enjoyed it so much that I purchased a copy for her to keep!

Excellent book

Wow. This book was ridiculously simple, and a very easy read. It improved my life and my relationships dramatically for the better. Sometimes I had to just put the book down, and ask myself, why didn't I think of that? It was a very educational book that I would recommend to teens and adults. Over all, it was a fantastic read. Happy Reading Everyone!!!

Good book

One of the best books for talking to teens about getting along with anyone - family, friends, roommates, potential spouses, the general public.... I used it with my youth group and it was a very effective lesson. The book is written on a teen level to communicate the principles in Dr. Chapman's original book for adults. Excellent, and a quick read.

Highly recommended

Great Material for teens and adults alike! We used this as the basis for our high school girls small group study. The girls were really receptive to all the discussions we had. The book can easily be broken down in a 6 - 8 week study. We did it in 5 weeks, but would have preferred longer. Loved the questions at the end of the chapters! Highly recommend for teens and their parents, youth leaders, small groups, or Sunday School.

Very informative

I bought this book for my teenage daughter for Valentine's Day. She's still reading it but I've listened to the book and feel it is a great approach to understanding and dealing with teen relationships like with parents, siblings, other family members, teachers, friends, and boyfriends/girlfriends.

Excellent one

Appropriate and easy reading for our 10 and 12 year old boys. One section about sex that was light, and promoted good discussion in our family. Was a great launch point for many discussions about love and respect. I sat down and read it in about an hour prior to giving a copy to each of the boys. Pairs nicely with the online 5 love languages surveys for kids and teens. Results of the surveys paired with talks from the book topics gave me and my wife more insight into how to most effectively connect with our young men.

Awesome book

I love this book! It is helping me with my daughter, to better show love through her Love Language. After she answered the questionnaire to find out her love language, I was surprised to learn that it was not what I had previously would have guessed was her love language. As we go through the book together I'm hoping it will help her in her friendships, too.
