Publisher's Summary

"Making money is a knack, a knack that can be acquired. And if someone like me can become rich, then so can you - no matter what your present circumstances. Here is how I did it and what I learned along the way." So writes Felix Dennis, who believes that almost anyone of reasonable intelligence can become rich, given sufficient motivation and application. How To Get Rich is a distillation of his business wisdom. Primarily concerned with the step-by-step creation of wealth, it ruthlessly dissects the business failures and financial triumphs of "a South London lad who became rich virtually by accident".

Part manual, part memoir, part primer, this book is a template for those who are willing to stare down failure and transform their lives. Canny, infuriating, cynical, and generous by turns, How to Get Rich is an invaluable guide to "the surprisingly simple art of collecting money which already has your name on it".

The anti-manual on how to get rich.

This book has ruined me for other 'how to get rich' books.

I own my own business and I would like to think that I'm on my way to becoming one of the 'comfortable poor' - a term the author uses to describe affluent people who are not super rich. I like to read the odd self help book on how to achieve wealth and stumbled upon this one.

The author, Felix Dennis, is a self made multi-milionnaire and by his own admission this book sets about telling the listener how difficult it is to become rich. It tells you in graphic detail how you will lose friends, how people will try to discourage you, how you may fail and lose everything, how you may be publicly humiliated and how your health and sanity can, and most likely will, suffer. But then it gives very sober and practical advice on how to combat these negative issues and how to come out at the other end alive and rich... or not.

So why did this book ruin me for other get rich books? The author spent quite a few minutes ranting on about the authors of other get rich self-help books and how most of them are only rich because they write self-help books on how to get rich. Think about this comment for a bit... Felix Dennis is filthy rich. He made all those riches himself. Then he wrote a book telling us how to do it as well. This is the book.

Love this book!

This books shares the anti-mainstream advice on getting rich. This is book is not your “believe and you will get rich” book.

This book is not for those who wants to get rich but at the same time become a saint although it is possible but the chances are you wont.

How many saint do you know that are extremely rich? i thought so..

Take notes ! it has very very good points

A personal insight into the pursuit of wealth

This is a personal opinion on how the author, publishing mogul Felix Dennis made his money (approx £750m at the time of his death in 2014).

There are some interesting anecdotes and in truth some sound advice about certain topics but like many of these books. The author focusses on the overall creation of wealth and for many people, getting from £20m to £100m of wealth is not as interesting as making that first few million.

Generally this is a good listen (although the musical interludes between chapters is a little odd) but don't expect too much from this more than a story of how the author did it and at times you may be left feeling a little patronised. It is worth a listen though and I will at some point probably give it a second listen to pick up on the gems hidden amongst the prose!

Hard truths

This book is well worth a read.... I say read because I think I would have enjoyed it more if I read it myself. I have the book at home on my nightstand I just never got around to picking it up. Anyway.... Denis was a hard man but his knowledge for business is something I admire. A tough cookie who wasn't afraid to speak his mind (Or read his poetry). If you want to listen to the ups and downs of how he became a multi millionaire then I suggest you listen. It's brutally honest and is a great insight into the running of businesses - if thats your thing! Enjoy....

Brilliant, insightful, honest

How to get rich by someone who has done it. Full of anecdotes of Felix Dennis road to becoming seriously rich, which range from Lemmy from Moterhead helping him liberate some office equipment when he first started to setting up a Billion pound public company. The best book I've read/listened to on the subject. You get a great understanding of the mindset required to achieve real wealth. Full of wit and humour with the odd verse of poetry thrown in.

practical and real, no fluffy nonsense. He shares real life experiences and simplifies even complex parts. his sense of humour is well played by the reader and the poetry at the beginning of each topic is a unique touch. (you might not like it if you're not into poetry but you can always skip thise parts)

Fantastic must listen book

Loved this book and couldn't stop listening to it. I will probably listen to it again.

Felix is right, there are a lot of self help books out there and it was refreshing to listen to this book because it was written in a truly personal and original way. From a man that had nothing to a man that gave some much away leaving a truly unique legacy

I worked for Felix Dennis publishing company for nearly 10 years and had the privilege of being invited to stay in Mustique not long before he passed away. The book really brings to life a magnificent man behind such great story

If you want a book that will really help you on the path to getting rich, this book surely will give you the raw and practical advice

And before I forget, a very good narrator

Brilliant. Quite brilliant.

A warts and all summary of how to get rich by someone who’s actually done it, which seems very rare combination. Also narrated superbly. I’ve listened to it twice and have applied several ‘musts’ to my own business already.

Very easy to listen book

What was one of the most memorable moments of How to Get Rich?

This book is a bit different than the average business/get rich book. It takes a different anglo, almost told by experience/biography rather than techniques. Full of common sense and perseverance.

Have you listened to any of David Ryder’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I really liked the narrator performance, he really brought the book to life.
