A grand title but rather empty inside

The title promises much and learn his journey for learning Russian but the advice is rather generic and none to specific or revealing.

Far better resources available at no cost on YouTube and on online blogs.

I wasted my audio credit on this. Go to Real Russian Club or any other resource online. Similar snd better strategies will be taught

Don't waste your money or audio credit

Do you want the ability to learn Russian?

This book isn't going to be your run of the mill repeat after me books. Instead it's going to teach you the process of how to learn a language.
Contained within is a lot of information that I wish I had known when starting out learning my first 2nd language. While it does focus a lot on the usage of the free Anki application for the majority of it, it's with good reason, but looking beyond the Anki usage this book contains a wealth of information.
It has ideas that people who're starting out probably won't know about until they are having to come full circle to fix issues with their language learning path because they've missed crucial information and ideas.
Even if you're not starting out learning Russian, the chapter on pronunciation is worth it alone. For beginners, this is a super important chunk of information that will not only allow you to pronounce words correctly, but also allow native speakers understand you better.

The section on the IPA on how the mouth forms the words is great, and I can hear it! Very few audio books take the time to explain how and why you need to be able to pronounce words, instead they just do word drills to repeat words that are spoken.

As a native Russian friend once said to me, people speaking Russian with an English accent sound like they're chewing while speaking. Russian has a lot of words that need to be spoken very clearly for them to be heard.

As the book suggests, how fluent and what level you want to be at is up to you. It's all up to you at the end of the day, you can either choose to learn or not. Learning has to be fun, and this book shows you how to make it and keep it fun. While the book is only a couple of hours long to read. You'll probably want to re-listen to it a few times and take notes, and probably a few more times over the course of the first month or two while you get used to the learning process to ensure that you're not pushing yourself too much in the wrong direction.

The PDF helps with setting up Anki and has a few other examples, but it's not really needed.

Overall, I highly rate this book if you really do want to learn Russian. This book won't teach you Russian, however, it will give you the ability to learn Russian. Very impressive.

Struggled to get through it

I really wanted to like this title but I'm afraid I struggled to get through it. I didn't personally find it gripping as it seemed to state the obvious in quite a meandering way throughout. As an upper beginner, I haven't really came out with any more info than when I started. This seemed to serve more as a very long infomercial for the Anki app - which I already have. It's a good resource but I haven't found it completely sufficient for language learning. I would have preferred more variety of learning methods and a more personal/motivating tone, than the instructional/descriptive one. it all felt a bit flat. Although, It did initially sum up some of the common issues faced by language learners quite well, which is why I was intrigued but I kept waiting for innovative, sufficient solutions that just didn't come. If you do enjoy the Anki app or want to learn how to get the best out of it,. this could be worth a go. Perhaps Anki is just not the best method for me but I was a bit underwhelmed with this title, unfortunately.
