Publisher's summary

How does one become a CEO? Many people know they want to climb the corporate ladder, but don't have a clue about how to ascend that ladder without losing their grip. In this insightful, controversial program, Jeffrey J. Fox offers solid, practical advice and recommendations on how to fulfill your ambition to better yourself, to be a contributor, to make a difference, to grow professionally, and to be more successful.

The seventy-five "rules" that Mr. Fox, founder of a marketing and consulting firm and an MBA graduate of Harvard Business School, outlines are actions you must take, traits you must develop, and things you must avoid in order to succeed. Mr. Fox's short and simple one-lesson-per-topic approach is an intelligent and straight-forward method of business instruction.

This guide sets forth the qualities that every successful leader must have: vision, persistence, integrity, and respect for superiors, subordinates, and peers. Whether you want to become president or CEO of a corporation, buy a business, start a business, run your own business, or have a long and fruitful career in a large corporation, How to Become CEO will give you the power to control your own business destiny.

Well done

A series of around 40 tips and approaches geared towards business development and dealing with others in the business world.
Well written and read. Some info you'll find in other places such as Carnegie, but much was new to me and useful.

A great personal agenda

Most readers / listeners won't hold all of the ideas in this book in their heads - certainly not first time through. But this is a great recording to keep permanently on your mp3 player and listen to several times. The topics covered are pretty wide ranging - from managing the politics of the workplace, to staying physically fit. You may not agree with all of the points, but I think that's partly the point with this book: select from this buffet of ideas, adjust them to suit your own situation, and go from there. All-in, this is a convincing take on what's needed to rise through an organization. Take the specific destination of 'CEO' with a pinch of salt perhaps...but, quite honestly, follow all of the steps in here to the letter, and you've got to feel you will be quite a few steps closer to that corner office. Punchy, well-written and well narrated. Highly recommended.

Great Practical Advice

I had previously read this book -- in my opinion, some of the best practical success advice anywhere. I ordered the audio to review the concepts. The narrator is great -- just the right speed and an appropriate reading style for the material.

Great empirical perspective

If you could sum up How to Become CEO in three words, what would they be?

Direct, applicable, rational

Any additional comments?

Great recommendations from Jeffrey J. Fox, all are common sense; some you already know, some you might have forgotten and some you would not know; though Jeffrey present all these recommendations in a direct, summarized, and well-explained manner. And available here to remind you, plan for it, apply them and repeat them over and over in you work and every day life.

Becoming a CEO is each of the readers/listeners responsibility, but this book is a great starting plan of action (if you put it in action) to shift your career in a brand new direction, at the very least.

Kudos to everyone that put Jeffrey J. Fox's words into action; and to him for sharing knowledge properly.

Perfect How to!

This Book is Direct and to the point! excellent, it tells you what to do and what not to do, what kinds of behaviors are and are not desirable and it doesn't talk for hours about examples and other peoples success wasting your time. it gets right to the meat and potatoes of the how to. Highly recommend it!

Must Read

For those even considering working in corporate america, before you step foot inside a company, this book is a must. As you find yourself tearing off your paper handcufs, you'll also find yourself much happier. Also, as for audiobooks, if you are a newbie, this is a great book because it is well read, and the chapters are short so they keep your attention. Fox does a great job identifying and keeping simple very important business behaviors.
