The former sex and relationships editor for Cosmopolitan and host of the wildly popular comedy show Tinder Live with Lane Moore presents her poignant, funny, and deeply moving first audiobook.

Lane Moore is a rare performer who is as impressive onstage - whether hosting her iconic show Tinder Live or being the enigmatic front woman of It Was Romance - as she is on the page, as both a former writer for The Onion and an award-winning sex and relationships editor for Cosmopolitan. But her story has had its obstacles, including being her own parent, living in her car as a teenager, and moving to New York City to pursue her dreams. Through it all, she looked to movies, TV, and music as the family and support systems she never had.

From spending the holidays alone to having better “stranger luck” than with those closest to her to feeling like the last hopeless romantic on Earth, Lane reveals her powerful and entertaining journey in all its candor, anxiety, and ultimate acceptance - with humor always her bolstering force and greatest gift.

How to Be Alone is a must-listen for anyone whose childhood still feels unresolved, who spends more time pretending to have friends online than feeling close to anyone in real life, who tries to have genuine, deep conversations in a roomful of people who would rather you not. Above all, it’s an audiobook for anyone who desperately wants to feel less alone and a little more connected through listening to her words.

I so did my own traditions for a few years even hiked on thanksgiving and found a pair of ray bans sunglasses on my hike solo. You can do your own thing and this book reinforced my own beliefs to keep on trucking .... at your own pace.
Fuck it.

Loved the traditions

I found this book on my facebook feed in an audible ad post breakup and getting ready to move out. It's incredibly real and even though I haven't experienced every single thing the author has, I felt like I was listening to someone else tell my story. She puts so many feelings into words that I could not describe over the years. So many internal dialogues secretly had with myself that I thought made me crazy when really, I was just human. This book is raw, honest, and reassuringly human. Thank you Lane Moore.

perfect timing

If you consider yourself normal you’ll hate this book. If you want to be normal more than anything this book will scare you. If you are quirky, a creative, a dreamer, a lover or hopeless romantic... you’ll meet a kindred spirit and never feel completely alone ever again... and you will absolutely LOVE this book!

**Bonus** she SINGS on the audio!!!! Love love love!!!!

I am so glad I chose to listen to this book. Her voice was inviting and genuine. You read this book and feel like you know her. I highly recommend this to you if you feel lonely or even if you don’t. If you don’t find yourself feeling alone, it’ll help you be able to see a glimpse into the lives of those around you.

Loved this book!

I feel seen

I’d heard about this book before I read it, so I wasn’t confused by the title and didn’t feel mislead. How to Be Alone isn’t a manual about how to be alone but a series of chapters where the author explains and gives examples of the endless ways she feels alone even with friends and around people.

Many reviewers found it listening to someone whine, while I finally felt less alone, like someone understands how utterly alone and disappointed in friendships I’ve felt. Hearing someone else describe these feelings brought the kind of comfort that validation does, especially when it seem so many people don’t understand.

I admire the author’s courage putting so much honesty out there and being so vulnerable.
