If you like artificial languages, try this one.

Even if you never heard of artificial languages, John McWhorter will gently and amusingly lead you into this mystical world. He covers things like sign language (ASL and others), Esperanto, and even some of the early artificial languages. Like sitting by the fire listening to your favorite uncle spin tales about his travel to far corners of the world, in this case, the world of language.
