Publisher's summary

Helicopter pilot Sara Denning joins an all-male navy battle group with little fanfare - and that's just the way she likes it. Her philosophy is simple - blend in, be competent, and above all, never do anything to stand out as a woman. But somewhere along the way, she lost herself - her feminine, easy-going soul now buried under so many defensive layers, she can't reach it anymore.

When she meets the strong, self-assured Lieutenant Eric Marxen, those defenses start to falter. He coordinates flight operations for SEAL Team One and they begin to request Sara exclusively as the pilot for their training exercises. The end mission is so secret, even she doesn't know the reason behind her mandated participation. With her career on the line she is able to compartmentalize her feelings, but when her life is on the line, can she follow the orders of her heart?

Loved it!

I rarely write reviews, but this story and performance were too good for me not to. The heroine is believable and relatable, her challenges and strength not over-the-top. Grounded in reality, with a nudge toward fantasy, this was a very satisfying listen. The narrator does an excellent job with voices, accents and tone. I get jarred out of a story when words are not pronounced correctly, but I did not have that problem at all. Highly enjoyable.

Much Better Than A Movie

I loved it all; the strong woman, the sexy navy seal and all the side characters. I felt like I was on board the ship and taking off and landing on the ship. The entire story was great and I hardly turned it off from beginning to end...great narrator as well

Really great story

This was such a refreshing story. I don't know if there were any accuarcy issues or not, but the military portion sure sounded real. I felt like I was seeing it first hand at how well the story was told. I absolutely loved the narrator. She did an amazing job. I can do a few accents, but Austrailan is always seems like a hard one and she did amazing., switching up voices.

What did you love best about Hover?

Exacting but oh so loveable Navy Pilots and Seals struggling with their grave responsibilities, fears and emotions, written from the author's unique Naval experience.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes! There are wolves in sheep's clothing.

Have you listened to any of Angela Dawe’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

NA. I liked her narration and pace.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the main character, a young Navy Pilot, faces her grave personal fear to protect her fellow Servicemen.

Any additional comments?

This is a fast paced, fun read about an accomplished but fearful young female pilot. You cant help but relate to her feelings of inadequacy. Author Anne Wilson does a fantastic job with the flight and in-the-water aspects of this novel, based on her own Naval background.

Great

Particularly enjoyed this. Would love to read more from this author along these lines, not a series, but something with these intricacies.

Military or civilian can relate and appreciate

This novel completely captured the experience of a talented female professional in a male dominated industry. The fact that it was a suspenseful military thriller was just a bonus. As a Naval Academy grad and highly awarded helicopter pilot, Anne Wilson is able to take the reader on a realistic journey filled with humor, suspense, and romance. Hoping that this story becomes a made for television suspense series!!

"You Knooow Him!!"

Where does Hover rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This has been a wonderful adventure to be right there on the flight deck, or experience a Navy day in fun or training. I have over 100 books still to be listened, but I just didn't want this to end. This author shows so much promise with this read. I will buy her next title a.s.a.p. as it is also read by my fave reader Ms Dawe.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hover?
So many in this listen. Roommate Emily's first meeting with Eric. Sara's 22 second field striping of a pistole and of course WOG day. If you are a woman, who is strong and confident, you may fist bump right when you hear some situations. This author knows how to bring out all the elements in a good adventure novel that ENTERTAINS. What a gift and a wonderful discovery. Great editing too, so don't change, Ms Wilson.

What does Angela Dawe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I purchased this book due to Ms Dawe as the reader. I love her male and childerns voices , but she out does herself in this book. I mean wow!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
"Up On Deck"

Any additional comments?
Note: you can try the new 1.25x speed to get all the action pack sequences that the author intended. You are right there!
P.S. yes, this has romance in the story line, but hey fellas, it isn't over the top, minimal in-fact . Ladies, this story will just make you have a big smile on your face.

Awesome book

This was a great book. I wish I could find more like it. The writing and audible narrators were great. Everyone who likes women in military books this is outstanding.

Solid listen

The character development in this book was somewhat lackluster, but the storyline was interesting enough to listen through.

Great story!

Loved this story of Navy helicopter pilot Sarah Denning. Lots of action - even with all the technical Navy/aeronautical terms was easy to follow.

It is a bit of insta-love between Eric & Sarah but other than that one component their story develops well.

There story is not easy. Crossing professional lines, secrets and insecurities create an angsty canvas for their relationship - not that the overall story really focuses on that though. It is single POV from Sarah's perspective so it really is more about her coming into her own in the story. She has a big demon to overcome but is great at her job, which is generally a male dominated profession.

I really loved all the supporting characters too. they each had a well defined part and brought dpth feeling and perspective to the overall story.

Lego, Messy, Animal and of course Em are all great background characters. Would live to hear more from this cast of characters.
