Publisher's Summary

Sophie and Joseph's escape from Northwood is short-lived. The beast survived, and attached itself to Joseph's young cousin, Elise. Garrett writes to beg for their help. Joseph and Sophie travel to meet him at Kensington, a long-abandoned mansion that overlooks a dead town. The house offers a small hope: its original owner had dedicated her life to researching the monster that possesses Elise. Garrett hopes to find a way to kill the creature without harming his daughter. But Kensington is a dangerous building. Once the carriage leaves, they're trapped inside the collapsing walls and forced to confront the horrors within. Shrouded figures stalk them. Whispers echo through the night. Unmarked graves dot the property. And the dead are not as restful as they seem.

Unexpected Help

One thing I really like about this book is that it picks up right where the first book left off. Sophie and Joseph are back not at Northwood but close to it at Kensington, because the beast survived the attach from in the first book. Now Garrett's daughter Elise is possessed by the beast and they are back to help Garrett get rid of the beast once and for all, but in order to do that they have to find a way to kill it. They found out a little lady had dedicated her life to researching and finding a way to kill the Monster. Now they are pressed for time to find out what the little lady found out and try to mimic it in order to save Elise. Will they be able to find a way to kill the monster without hurting Elise? I am cheering for them and hope that they can find out some kind of information on the Grim lock Monster, how will they do it alone, can they find someone to help them? These are some of the questions that are continuously asked.

2 Perfect books for Audible!!<br />

I loved the 2nd book even more than the 1st book!! Darcy Coates is an excellent author, that I only discovered when I got the Kindle app. I have read so many of her books. A few I had to stop reading until daylight, they were so creepy and I'm 57yrs old!! These 2 books were set in the horse and carriage times. So, I was curious as to how she was going to make these like her other stories, and she was excellent with both!!
When I first heard the narrators voice, I was like this is going to be awful! Then you learn who she is, a privileged young lady. I can see these books as a movie, but they might not stick to the story line. I have more to read or maybe on Audible.

Great story!

I loved this story. It grabbed me from the very begining and until the very end. I struggled to put it down. Just like all of Darcy's books this one is intriguing and very well written. I can hardly wait to read another of her books. I would highly recommend it .
