Publisher's Summary

Callie has spent her life moving towns every four months in a bid to stay off the grid. Her only family is a paranoid mother who believes there's a race of supernatural beings out there actively searching for Callie. A race who could destroy Earth if they get their hands on her. Callie's never seen one thing to suggest there's any truth to her mom's insane ramblings, and at the age of 18 now, she's grown numb to her reality; she's never going to have a normal life.

That is, until they move to New Orleans. The moment Callie steps foot into the Quarter, hears the jazz music, feels the soul of the city, the cold shell she's built to protect herself starts to thaw.

Then they come for her.

Turns out her mom's stories are quite real, and whatever happens, Callie's empty world will never be the same again.

Okay

I feel like this is the same book I read in house of darken. Alien meets girl, girl hates alien at first, and then they fall in love...

not as good as the first

Honestly was a little bit difficult to get through and it feels like they really skipped over a lot and rushed through the whole book.... Just the story did not make Me very attached to the new characters and it really felt like they turned the old characters that I love so much into Just flat characters with no real personality..
That and it did not explain any of the lead up to the attraction or anything it was just a magical O this is happening now....

Great story

You won’t be disappointed. It’s annoying when the villain finds ways to over throw the good people but they find ways to overcome them. It was sad one part when the author kills off a character I loved. In which I believe was not fair nor cool. But overall the story plot was very intriguing and keeps you on edge. I recommend.

Great Story!

At this point in time I have read almost all of Jaymin Eve's books and I have NEVER been disappointed! Her story telling is spot on and pulls the reader in from the first chapter. Vanessa Moyen's narration is always fantastic as well! She has a very distinctive voice and I love listening to her bring characters to life! House of Imperial is the second book in the Secret Keepers series and should be read as such. I found this one a little more action packed than the first and without giving away any spoilers, I will say you may want a tissue handy once or twice! Excellent writing, excellent narration, and I can't wait to listen to the next in the series!!!

Addicted to this series

Daniel and Callie are relationship goals. I couldn't stop listening. I was so emotional and I think I could use a good cry. Jaymin Eve never fails to deliver.

Love

I’m loving this series so much. I just with the voice acting was better. She is horrible at the male voices.

It's okay

The second book in the series is good, but the first book is better. This book despite being a continuation of the story, is focused on the House of Imperial and the conflicts of the central characters.
It's good to read the book to keep up with how the story will unfold, but it's not the kind of book I would recommend as a reading option.
I really hope the third book will be better.

Failure

Read a lot of Jaymin Eve books, usually pretty good. This one is a huge failure!
Everything seems disconnected, just bouncing from chapter to chapter moving the story along sometimes jumping expected scenes.
Book 1 was decent and was a good start but this is not worth reading. Maybe due to be it being 3 hours shorter all the important steps were missed. Story is a mess. Time to return!

Loved as much as book one

Just wonderful.
Again same great characters, with intriguing new characters.
Good story lines and narration easy to listen too.

Not as good as book 1

The narrarator (one of my favoutites) saved this book for me. Not as good as the first in the series, storyline just got boring......
