A man accused of burglary seems innocent . . . but in this #1 New York Times bestseller, two ex-Secret Service agents quickly learn that nothing is more dangerous than the truth.

A woman is found murdered in the woods. It seems like a simple case but it soon escalates into a terrible nightmare. Someone is replicating the killing styles of the most infamous murderers of all time. No one knows this criminal's motives...or who will die next.

Two ex-Secret Service agents, Sean King and Michelle Maxwell, have been hired to defend a man's innocence in a burglary involving an aristocratic family. Then a series of secrets leads the partners right into the frantic hunt that is confounding even the FBI. Now King and Maxwell are playing the Hour Game, uncovering one horrifying revelation after another and putting their lives in danger. For the closer they get to the truth, the closer they get to the most shocking surprise of all.©2004 Columbus Rose, Inc.; (P)2004 Time Warner Audiobooks

Like one of the other reviewers I have read and enjoyed some of the authors other books a lot more. The story was a bit too unbelievable. The narrator was good very easy to listen to however.

Disappointed.

Scott Brick does a great job with this book, but I don't know how many times Balducci uses the phrase "Shot back" or "shot across" or some other weak phrase. He has too few words for too many scenes and it quickly becomes apparent. The plot twist will keep you guessing, but I found some of the clue threads almost non-apparent; at the "big reveal" the detective goes through a series of explanations that really are a stretch. Finally the differences between what the author can imagine and what the coroner describes are huge. It is too clear that he took notes during his forensic research and wanted to put them on paper to describe every gruesome detail, but his own imagination brings us tired wording.

Twisty plot riddled with cliches

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down and hated when it was over (or actually put the iPOD down). Baldacci leaves a few items for you to figure out on your own. While they are obvious, he doesn't insult your intelligence by spelling it all out for you. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

Fantastic book and SO worth the time.

A definite...Great story

I enjoyed the first book a great deal but book 2 was a bit of a let down,. What happened to the kick-ass Michelle? She turned into a bit character for the male who solved the crime. I will have to think long and hard about using a credit for the 3rd book.

A little disappointing

Very well researched book, full of great forensic insight. Full of twists and turns. The book was written and the narrator read in a way that made it easy to follow along and keep track of all the activities of the many characters involved in the investigations. great listen for a cold snowy day on the couch.

outstanding
