Luoghi in cui, nel settembre 1943, una colonia di ebrei sfollati dalle città lombarde assistette all'arrivo della "Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler", la divisione SS gloria e vanto del Führer.
Grazie a decine di testimonianze dirette, l'autore ricostruisce la cieca ostinazione con cui la colonia che gravitava attorno all'Hotel Meina reagì di fronte alla caccia ai civili indifesi e ai cadaveri che iniziavano ad affiorare dal lago, nel quale trovarono la morte cinquantaquattro persone.
