Great read

This book was short and sweet. Once I started I couldn’t stop and the twist at the end made it more spectacular.

The Chicago heiress and small town detective

Everyone should have their own trio of ‘Golden Girls’!! Anna gave up her life in Chicago, as an heiress and fiancée to a wealthy man, for the tranquility of a small beachside town. Here she’s found the solace and acceptance that she’s been missing...as well as a gaggle of friends. Then she meets Detective Calvin Miller...and she learns the true meaning of love. Of course we can’t have smooth sailing for the couple...Anna’s ex and snobbish parents show up! Between a rash of murders that have baffled the police and Anna’s notoriety, we have quite a bit happening in this quick story. Nice wrap to the series.

Really enjoyed the series but absolutely loved this book. Was not expecting the insane turn of events but it made it that much better!

Was there so much sex or unrealistic sex that you rolled your eyes and/or skipped forward? No

The back story... The H flees controlling parents and a cardboard cutout of a fiance (after she breaks up with him) and takes a job at the local bakery. The initial meeting with the H, a local Police Detective, doesn't go so well.

The Romance... After the H apologized for being a jerk, they started to build a relationship. The H works hard to let the h know that she is safe and wanted in the community.

The drama explosion... The H freaks out.
Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? A bit contrived.

HOOKED on Anna & Calvin!

Hooking Him is the 3rd book in Aurora Rose Reynolds Catching an Alpha Series. Anna & Calvin are my favourite in this series! Calvin sets his sights on Anna the moment she comes to town and is determined to get to know her and make her his. She has just escaped a life where she was feeling unfulfilled. She has all the money anyone could ask for but she is in search of true happiness and is leaving it all behind.
ARR is incredible at writing steamy, passionate love stories. There is an insta-love feel to them but they don’t feel overdone or unbelievable. Her romances are so swoon worthy you can’t help but fall head over heels for these couples at the same time they do. In this story not only do we have an amazing love story but the suspense added in kept me listening and engaged. Calvin has a huge heart and his protectiveness over Anna and her family I adored. Together these two are unstoppable. Virginia Rose and Aiden Snow are two of my favourite narrators. The dual narration was perfect and they compliment each other’s voices well.

Great story and excellent narration!!

Calvin and Anna’s entertaining romance unites a dedicated police detective trying to solve a murder spree and a feisty redheaded baker who escaped her rich life to live in small town anonymity. I loved Anna’s free spirited octogenarian besties whose speeding and pot smoking activities keep both Anna and Calvin on their toes. I loved Calvin’s protective nature and the welcoming warmth of his generous family. The uproar that engulfs the town when Anna’s true identity is revealed creates all kinds of chaos when her ex fiancée and her manipulative parents pressure her to return to her former life. Calvin’s search for clues to the identity of a killer and the suspense filled storyline is well written and well executed. I enjoyed their chemistry, the media circus that descends upon the bakery, and the appearance of previous couples in the series as well as the narration performances of the endlessly charming talents of Virginia Rose and the sexy-as-sin aural drawl of Aiden Snow.

Just right.

The story has a little drama, a little mystery, 3 elderly ladies known as the golden girls, add just the right amount of mischiefs. A sexy detective, a sassy heroine, some hot and very sexy times and a whole lot of love. The author knows how to write a good story that keeps readers interested. Hooking Him is just right.

You can never go wrong with a book by ARR. Love this book and series!
