Publisher's summary

Aislinn Andrews met Lucas Greywolf under unusual circumstances – she caught the escaped convict raiding her refrigerator. But was he a troublemaker who aroused dissidence among Arizona’s Native Americans…or a hero who’d gone to prison for a crime he hadn’t committed? It didn’t really matter now, since Lucas Greywolf had taken her hostage. He was going home to the reservation of his birth, honor bound to pay last respects to his dying grandfather. And Aislinn was his ticket home.

Through their journey across the hot Arizona desert, Aislinn was alternately intrigued and infuriated by this rebel with a cause. This defiant, determined man made no secret of his desire for her – and no secret of his hatred for her kind: the Anglos who betrayed his people.

Yet among his people, Aislinn saw another side of Lucas Greywolf as she was swept into a world where sacred tradition clashed with despair and poverty, where family, heritage and honor was all that remained. Transformed by his world, by his strength, by her growing love for this complicated, proud man, she gave in to her heart’s demands, knowing that Lucas soon would return to prison. Neither anticipated the gift he’d leave behind.

Enjoyable book

I read this book sometime ago. It is a short book. I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
I found it interesting and maybe hard to believe a kidnapped person would help the perpetrator but stranger things have happened and heard of. Today we are much more weary of people than we would have been almost 40 years ago. We have to remember it is a book and strictly for entertainment. Sometimes fiction is very close to the truth.

Lucas a Native American broke out of jail to see his grand-father before his death and attend the funeral. He was in jail for a crime he didn't commit. His request was denied. Lucas took matters in his own hands. He took Aislinn, hostage and fell in love with her. The problem, she was every thing he detested and hated. she was rich, and white. But she also had his baby to which he would not let go. Lucas returned to Aislinn's condo to apologize to her he found a surprised, she had a son by him. Lucas was a proud man who embraced his heritage.

I enjoyed the book even with the strange things that makes you wonder. It is one of Sandra Brown earlier works. Basically what this proves is that there is nothing new under the sun. Love transcends. I loved the way Aislinn was portrayed as such a strong person who matched the strong personality of Lucas. It was refreshing how Lucas mother was done with such a forgiving heart.

At times we need refreshing books to read. I am an avid reader of romance therefore, this is the kind of stuff I enjoy. It does not matter is was written almost 40 years ago. It does not seem dated except for technology the subject matter does not change.

I would have liked the book to have been longer: maybe she could have talked more about Lucas father and why he did what he did. All in all, it was a short read, but enjoyable one. It's hard to get a romance without suspense and drama where it ties in just right. This book was predictable as in you knew they would end up together and there would be a baby knowing Sandra Brown earlier works, but the fun is how the story unfolds I read the book in one sitting and listened to it in one day.

Outstanding

Okay, so it's a stretch to think anyone would end up in love with a man who dominates and kidnaps you, but of course, this is a book. Make believe. I loved it!! All of it. The narrator is excellent and Ms. Raudman hasn't done any reading that I didn't enjoy.
Honor Bound was enjoyable and I listened through to the end without pause.

Always enjoy reading Sandra Brown’s works

This book does not disappoint. I read Honor Bound years ago but throughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The story was suspenseful, and the narrator gave a wonder performance.

50 Shades of Grey wanna be.

I have read many of the authors books and was looking forward to this audible as I traveled across the country. I am so disappointed. There was little plot. It seemed as if the author was more intent on seeing how descriptive she could be with sex. Would not recommend this book.

Bought a Bunch of Older SB Books on a Good Sale...

What did you like best about Honor Bound? What did you like least?

Released in 1989 A Lot of PC & A Bit Over Done

This was exciting at the start but the 'evil white man' mantra got old fast for me.

If you’ve listened to books by Sandra Brown before, how does this one compare?

I enjoy Sandra Brown and got a bunch of these older books on a great sale but would have been disappointed if I used a credit on this one.

Have you listened to any of Renee Raudman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She is one of my favorite narrators and usually fantastic. Overall this performance was very good, however I was a bit disappointed with her portrayal of some of the Native American characters-not as realistic (too stereotypical).

Any additional comments?

Hidden Gem

While I love Sandra Brown's romantic suspense, I've not had much luck with her early category romances. This 2012 production of a 1986 romance is delightful thanks to very appealing lead characters. There's a satisfying dollop of raw emotional conflict and angst that rings true. Renee Raudman, as usual, nails it, enhancing the written word with her intuitive performance.

Old School Sandra Brown

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I read this book years ago and really enjoyed it. I listened to it again and still loved it. I did notice the difference between Sandra Brown then and Sandra Brown now... it is interested to see how authors hone their craft over the years.

What three words best describe Renee Raudman’s performance?

Renee Raudman did a credible job - easy to listen to.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

maybe

Amazing book

I’ve listened to this book, as a reminder of my teenage years when I used to read Sandra’s books😅. I was a bit sentimental and needed a new book, this delivered to all my expectations. The narrator did a great job, and for a book written in the 80’s I was impressed by the audio version. A different SB book I would say, than one would expect😊

Remarkable Book !

Wow, for a book written in 1986 it's remarkable to be on Audible and remarkable that I stumbled on it (by accident). It's remarkable in the depth of feelings, of story, of language, of the flow of the narrative to create such a beautiful and elegant tale. There is no swearing at all, the MCs are worthy and driven and so well described. The sex is beautifully scripted with ample detail but not tipping into porn. The sex develops into love, and is so heartfelt and expressed so well, it will bring the reader to tears more than once.

Lucas has honor, and unlike many cowboys in "romance" stories, is not a sex maniac, not into bdsm, threesomes or only pretending to be a cowboy. He is a hero, although a reluctant one, in the true sense of the word. Aislinn is heroic too in her own way, and stands up to him at every turn, even when he has a knife to her side. She is a strong, not give to stupid or shenanigans.

It's also remarkable that so few books written recently can convey the depth of emotion and passion found here. It is refreshing to find such a good book and a new author to me.

On top of the good story, is the detail of their life on their ranch where Lucas herds his horses and Aislinn does her thing. I love real cowboy books !

This book contains extremely sad harrowing events but ends in a well deserved HFN. Tissues required.

The narrator does an excellent job voicing these MCs increasing the drama and tone of the whole performance.

LOVED IT !
