Publisher's summary

The Holy Spirit... Greater than your theology, bigger than denominations, beyond all we can imagine, God's gift to the church and to you.

Debate about the Holy Spirit has been around for a long time. In Holy Fire, best-selling author and respected theologian R. T. Kendall sets the record straight about the Holy Spirit's role in our lives and in the life of the church.

If you want to increase your knowledge of this most misunderstood member of the Trinity, or if you long to experience his presence in your life in a deeper way than ever before, this book is for you. Are you charismatic? He is bigger than your signs-and-wonders events. Are you Reformed? He will not be limited by your theology. As Jesus said of the Holy Spirit, "He blows where he will".

Many Words To Say Nothing

Purchased this in kindle format and audio through audible.com. Honestly.., this author sounds like he hopes to be some great philosopher. The book rambles on and on; over hill and dale, around and around he goes with many words. Subjectively - objectively, it rambles with empty headed philosophy to tout the vast vocabulary and the "intelligence" of the author.

Really... The audio format gave me a head ache. Jeepers! It's Doctor so and so says such and such, or Doctor what's his name says so and so, while the author points out how he rubs elbows with so and so.

It's blah-blah with no end, and/or many words to say little. Save your money. Purchase a Christian book with a solid message. This book has little value to knowing the Lord.

A good treatment

Mr. Kendall does a good job of talking about the Holy Spirit’s involvement with the church. Please disregard the review of the person who said this book was one star. Mr. Kendall gives an occasional story to highlight a point. It makes the book more relatable.

Wonderful Book to listen to!

When you listen in the beginning the accent sounds thicker than when the book actually starts in chapter 1.
I enjoyed it book and would recommend it.

This Book is Fire!

Among my top ten books, the best I’ve read on the subject of the Spirit. Kendall aims to walk the narrow path of Jesus thru worship in Spirit and in Truth. He does so by grounding his reader firmly in the logos word of Scripture while demanding that to walk with God is to keep in step with the Spirit from whence comes personalized rhema word (our daily bread). He carries a unique voice calling forth the ultimate revival of a Bride in which the Word and the Spirit are fully mixed.

One of the best works on the subject

Overall, this is one of the best books on the subject. Fair and balanced! Why not 5 stars? I think the author danced around the arguments that the tongues could be known earth languages but unknown to the speaker as opposed to rambling jobber jabber. I felt like this could have be visited and explained. I would love to know how the author would support or rebut these.

A fantastic view of the Biblical Holy Spirit

I learned quite a bit from this and plan to reread again as I need to take more notes. What a blessing this book has been and that God has lead me to read.

Spot on

It’s rare that you get such biblical teaching that is reformed and the teaching that Holy Spirit is alive and active today. R.T. hits the “Nail on the Head.”

This guy must read the Bible :)

doctorin was a bit off

doctorin was a bit off on praying to the holy Spirit. Jesus Christ the Son taught us to pray to the Father not to the Spirit.
