Publisher's summary

Cole Masten. Abandoned by his superstar wife, Hollywood's perfect husband is now Hollywood's sexiest bachelor: partying hard and screwing even harder. Watch out Los Angeles, there's a new bad boy in town.

Summer Jenkins. That's me, a small town girl stuck in Quincy, Georgia. I cook some mean chicken and dumplings, can bluff a grown man out of his savings in poker, and was voted Most Friendly my senior year.

We were from different worlds. Our lives shouldn't have collided. But then Cole Masten read a book about my small town. And six months later, his jet landed on our dusty airstrip, and he brought Hollywood with him. From the start, I knew he was trouble. For our town. And for me. Sometimes, opposites just aren't meant to attract.

A MAGNETIC PUSH-PULL TALE WHEN OPPOSITES ATTRACT

Summer lived with her Mom in small town Quincy where everybody knew everybody..... including everybody's business and, for four years, Summer had been gossiped about and shunned because of something she had rightly, naively and recklessly done to her cheating Fiancé. So, when a gay Movie Scout needed her help with arrangements for a potential blockbuster they were going to film in her town, Summer jumped at the chance to help - and to make a much needed solitary friend. But what she never planned for was the gorgeous, talented and award winning Actor Cole Masten to completely rock her world..... and completely knock her plans for the future way off course.

Cole had his own demons that he was running from and his pampered life was going to be shaken up even more when he comes face to face with the one woman on the planet that didn't obey his ever word, pander to his wishes and worst of all..... didn't lust after him. Huh, not that he wanted to have sex with her either.... oh no - because she was hard-headed, opinionated and stubborn as Hell and every time they met they clashed, verbally sparred and the sexual tension climbed up another degree or three..... however she would make the perfect feisty Leading Lady in his upcoming film. But what he never planned for was that the frustrating, annoying and naive woman who would completely rock his world too..... because Summer had a heart of gold, was loving, generous and kind (well to everyone except him) and opened his eyes to real life..... and real love.

A very enjoyable listen as these two likeable characters challenged, fought, insulted and lobbed weighted banter like granades designed to destroy but underneath it all was mutual attraction, hopeless desire and sizzling chemistry that was, despite efforts to snuff it out, about to ignite and burn. The book was heavy on their backgrounds and they didn't actually meet until Chapter 26 but when they did the gloves were put on long before the clothes came off. It was fun, sweet, sexy, angst-ridden and entertaining to watch these two battle each other, battle their desires and finally give in to the heady attraction for each other that ended up totally consuming them both. Dual POV's, a Cockrel made for some amusing scenes and a narrator who's character's voices were all fine but, IMO, I didn't particularly like her Hero's voice (which wasn't sexy, male or Alpha enough for me). There also seemed to be a lot of quick Chapters.

Worth a credit? If you're after an easy, light and heartwarming journey of 'enemies to frenemies to friends to lovers' Contemporary romance then you've just found it. And yes, it's totally creditworthy too.

Resolution was just too easy

After 12 hours of arguments and misunderstandings, the hero and heroine solved everything in the last half hour. Would have liked for the resolution to be more in depth and gradual.

Opposites Attract

Sweet opposites attract story with a good balance of humor and romance. It lacked the drama i usually like - its more a light listen. The narrator did a great female voice but missed the mark on the male voice.

Needs a male narrator too

A dual narration would have worked better, I had to really pay very close attention to the accent to figure out the POV.

Best Listen This Year!!!!!

loved this book!!!! APretty Woman type of love story. character developement was phenomenal. by the time the two met you really understood what their lives were really like. And wow does the fireworks fly (Southern Style)when these two finally meet face to face. I loved the heroine's sharp wit , southern charm, and take no s*** attitude. Absolutely refreshing for the girl to make the hero work for every inch of her respect. The narrator was brilliant in her delivery. kept great pace and her accent was spot on. she was perfect for this book. Absolutely credit worthy or dare I say , Buy it outright. definitely worth every cent. I listened straight thru, couldn't put it down. Truly the best book I've had the privilage to listen to in a long time. Will definitely be keeping a lookout for more from this author!

Just the book I was needing!

This was hands down one of my absolute favorite books this year! Perfectly written and perfectly narrated with true southern charm. After reading reviews about to much description throughout the story I would most defiantly have to disagree, just enough to make every second enjoyable!

Loved the book not so much the narrative

I give the book 5 stars and wrote a review for the book with the ebook companion.
I didn't really care too much for the narrator for Coles parts or any of the male parts of the narrating. Rachel F. Hirsch's voice for me when it hit the male parts was a bit irritating because she was a perfect Summer which is the complete opposite of Cole! I would have liked the narrating better with a voice more in the middle of both characters or a male placed in for Coles parts
Rachel is a perfect Summer for sure.

loved it

Wonderful romance with the perfect balance of humor, love, and sex. Great storyline without the annoying overly done drama that so many romance novels posess!

A little bit of a let down from this author

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I wouldn't say it was a waste of credit, but I won't be re-listening to it.

If you’ve listened to books by Alessandra Torre before, how does this one compare?

It wasn't a horrible book, but I just like so many of her prior books- this one just didn't measure up for me.

Which scene was your favorite?

When we finally here the big secret of her past, which was actually one of the drawbacks of the book for me though. I'm used to great twists with some build up in her books. This whole story was built up to the big secret- which was a good tale, but not the huge shock that the author built up to through the whole book.

Could you see Hollywood Dirt being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I guess, but they would need some good screenwriters and hot actors to play up some of the other smaller storylines than just the "big secret".

Any additional comments?

Sorry for being a little wishy-washy on this review. I did not love this book, but I think it's my comparison to her other books that I have loved that is clouding my judgement on this one. I just expect more when I read a book from this author. If it was an unknown author to me, I probably would've given it 4 stars instead of 3.

So slow and the narration is bizarre

The story is very slow starting, I'm just over 4 hours into the book and it's still to get interesting, constantly going over the same inane points which have no real relevance in progressing the story, I get the author is trying to set the scene, but we get the point the first 20 times they're mentioned.

I don't know what the narrator is trying to portray, she keeps lowering her voice to a whisper. Is she trying to be sultry, create some kind of dramatic effect? It's made the book unlistenable. Summer's narrative goes on and on about being Southern, proper Southern etiquette and tradition... we get it, the book is based in the South and the author doesn't need to give prominence to every Southern cliche she can think of. Very disappointing thus far, I expected more. Not sure if I'll persevere with this book.

Was a nice story

Narration was solid, the story was OK, it dragged at times. Small town girl, hard done by, meets Hollywood leading man. It didn't do much wrong but didn't spark for me.
