Publisher's Summary

The last thing Chloe Savage needs is a boyfriend. But she’s caught the eye of Travis Goldman, and the more he gets to know her the more he realizes she is a lot like the heroine in his book, the girl of his dreams.

Fiercely independent and struggling with inexplicable health issues, Chloe is determined to get her own place and strive for contentment on her own, without the help of any guy.

Travis Goldman’s dream is to become a best-selling author. He’s been working on a young adult fantasy novel and now he is ready to submit his manuscript to eager agents.

When they meet at a Bible study, sparks don’t exactly fly. Chloe is attending out of a desire to please her grandmother, and, if she must admit, out of her own (mild) curiosity. Travis thrives off the excitement of socializing with many people, and of delving a little deeper into the Bible.

Whitney, a mutual friend, can see that Chloe and Travis are perfect for each other, but Chloe is determined to keep Travis at arm’s length.

That is, until the unthinkable happens....

A sweet, clean romance.

By Christian romance author, Nikki Larson - glorifying God by weaving biblical truth into compelling fiction.

Couldn't Finish

I listened to this until chapter 23 and just couldn't finish it. I didn't find Chloe likeable at all and couldn't figure out why Travis liked her. Unfortunately, I didn't care enough about it too listen to the radio to see how it finished. The narrator did a good job.

The book evolves and becomes much better

I had a hard time with this book. It was slow going for the first. Chloe was so self absorbed and overthinking everything she had a hard time even carrying on a conversation. It almost seemed like she was using her Bible as a crutch. She had a form of survivor guilt and totally closed off any chances of a relationship. Her health had also been poor with allergies, migraines, arthritis and fibromyalgia, which caused some of her self absorption and introspection. Her relationship with Travis started slowly but he somehow was able to work around her barriers. When I read other reviews about mental illness, I thought it was about her because she had a boatload of different anxieties. I wasn’t expecting it to include Travis. In the end it got through her self-absorption and made her look and care for someone else. This definitely is not an easy fluff book but hang in there a lot gets resolved.

Sweet love conquers all story

Hold My Heart is a sweet, clean Christian romance that is well written. It explores and briefly educates the reader on mental illness and the stereotypes/prejudices related to it. It also touches on the difficulties of living with autoimmune related illnesses. I appreciate when a book can pull off entertainment and education within a wonderful storyline. I love the emphasis of relying on God in good times and bad with scriptures the reader can refer back to. The performer did a wonderful narration.
I received an ARC of this book and have chosen to give my honest opinion.

Hold My Heart

I love our heroine’s strength of character in standing up for her beliefs. I also admire our hero’s steadfast efforts to win her heart. Their strength of character gives the story an unexpected burst of hope. I was sorry she wasn’t able to win John to Christianity.

Clean romance

I did not really enjoy this story. Chloe seems rather childish, rambles a lot. I did not connect with her. Travis is nice but doesn't seem to know how to control his life until Chloe sets his father straight near the end of the book. Travis says to Chloe "No one has ever talked to my father like that". Not sure what their ages are supposed to be. I think the narrator is really great. I enjoyed her voice & characterization of the people in the book. I received a free copy from the author. This is my honest, voluntary opinion.

Kept hoping it would get better

I found it very hard to finish this book. While the writing was strong, the characters weren't very likable. Chloe is a controlling, neurotic personality dealing with health issues. And she is the one the reader spends the most time with.

While she knows scripture, it doesn't seem like her faith is alive to her. Instead, she seems to be constantly reminding herself (and beating herself up at times) that she should feel, act or believe a certain way. This may be to help the non-believing reader understand the rationale of faith, but it makes it seem like she's "putting on" her faith rather than living it.

Travis, her love interest, adores her, but for reasons that were never really clear to me. She brushed him off for quite a while and gave him little to no encouragement. While he attends bible study and goes to church, we learn little about his faith. Instead, we hear more about the beliefs of John, the atheist in their bible study. (As a reader, I would have liked to have understand more about why he was coming to a bible study and what brought him there in the first place.)

Overall, I found the book unsatisfying and, in some instances, disturbing. When I first saw the audiobook cover, I thought it was an odd choice for the heroine of a clean Christian romance. It looks more like a Fatal Attraction-type of image. But now that I've read the book, the cover image makes more sense... The same unsettled feeling I got looking at the cover is exactly the way I felt when I finished listening to the book.

Clean, Christian read

I enjoyed bits and pieces of this. Author dealt with a lot of issues and due to that some of it felt undone. I did enjoy the scripture text and Christian based of the book.

I received a free copy and have left my honest review.

Beautiful Christ centered book!

Living with many different debilitating ailments Chloe chooses to focus her life with her eyes on the Lord.  Having over come her inability to walk was a blessing.

Travis comes into her life with this of dating Chloe.   He is a God loving man but Chloe doesn't want to be dating anyone.   When Travis has an unexpected experience Chloe has to be patient and turn to prayer.

This book delivers more of a punch knowing some of Chloe's illnesses are based on a real person.   Many bible quotes that are inspiring.

Lorana Hoopes did a great job as narrator!

Good Story

Chloe focusing and struggling day by day. To please her grandmother and curiosity she goes to a bible study. For Travis he loves to go deeper into Bible study. A writer and Chloe fits his dream girl. They are young, have goals and issues, can a love come about to share life with. Good YA type book. Given ARC audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
