Publisher's summary

The history of Guinness, one of the world's most famous brands, reveals the noble heights and generosity of a great family and an innovative business. It began in Ireland in the mid-1700s. The water in Ireland, indeed throughout Europe, was famously undrinkable, and the gin and whiskey that took its place devastated civil society. It was a disease-ridden, starvation-plagued, alcoholic age, and Christians like Arthur Guinness - as well as monks and even evangelical churches - brewed beer that provided a healthier alternative to the poisonous waters and liquors of the times. This is where the Guinness tale began. Now, 250 years and over 150 countries later, Guinness is a global brand, one of the most consumed beverages in the world. The tale that unfolds during those two and a half centuries has power to thrill audiences today: the generational drama, business adventure, industrial and social reforms, deep-felt faith, and the noble beer itself.

God Bless Guinness

I have been in many Bible college classes, and never once was the name Aurthur Guinness ever mentioned what this man has done along with his family and business to help spread the Gospel around the world. Thank you for opening my mind to see that God still does work in amazing ways.

great book!

I wasn't sure about it in the first chapter but I'm very glad I gave it a chance. the narrator is great. and i really appreciated the writing style and presentation the author gives. I thought I new about the story of Guinness but I was so wrong. what an incredible story of running a business with honor and generosity. As someone who is next in line to inherit a family business, this book has given me much to think about and much to aspire to when it comes to treating our employees with honor and being generous in the city's we are established in.

Fun but lots of facts

I so enjoyed this book. It is full of insightful and fun beer history. The historical impact of Guinness and the founders faith still has rippling affects on modern society. It's all laid out in this book. It's does at times however feel like a lot of information and drags a little with the facts and figures. If you are not good with remember names as I am once and a while if I'd put the book down for to many days I had a hard time figuring out the order of things But over all highly recommend to any beer and or and persons of Christian faith.

Fascinating

This book was awesome. I learned so much about the positive impact a business can have in a community to how life and generations change over the ages by following this family.
