Publisher's summary

Press here for pleasure. Only Wednesday Martin, New York Times bestselling author of Primates of Park Avenue, could combine anthropology, anecdote, and adventure to hilariously right an anatomic wrong.

For millennia, the woman’s most sensitive part has been maligned, misrepresented, and cut out entirely from medical texts, our culture, and our general understanding of female sexuality. Not anymore. Join Martin in the “cliteracy” movement - a stimulating quest from ancient Greece to medieval Europe to the Costa Rican rain forest to rediscover the significance, the symbolic power, the cultural history, the intimidation, the scandal, the vast terrain, and the pleasure of “the button”.

Wednesday Martin’s The Button is part of Missing, a collection of six true stories about finding, restoring, or accepting the losses that define our lives - from the mysterious to the inspiring. Each story can be listened to in a single sitting.

Great for the interested layperson

These were interesting essays, giving a person a brief primer on the clitoris and its recognition by the medical community and the world at large. This is my first title by Wednesday, I would be interested to hear more of her work.

What every man (and woman) should know!

A delightful and educational read! Ms. Martin has made a "taboo" subject(to some) quite approachable. Quite a few LOL moments. Will def seek out more from this author

Not something that is talked about even today.

I thought this story was well read as well as written. the subject matter is even in this day and age not really openly talked about.

Relatable. Honest. Hot.

There is a good balance of science and narration in this book. Martin tells many relatable stories from her childhood and adolescent years, to which many women can relate. And at the same time, she explains the anatomy of a female body in simple, comprehensible words.
My favorite quote, "Penis is for sex and peeing. Clitoris is for sensation."
Good read.

Sharp, engaging, funny, and informative. Wonderfully narrated by the author with a great amount of character. Definitely would love to read more by her.

Learning something new!

At 68 years old I have learned something new about my body and every other woman’s body. I have also learned, well really I knew already, that men actually work very hard to oppress women to elevate their own power and egos. Not all men, of course, but it is a systemic misogyny that hurts both women and men. Fear is a terrible thing.

You Oughtta Know

Here are a few things I'd like to happen to this book:
Mother's buying it for their daughters.
Daughters buying it for their mothers.
Spouses buying it for each other.
A Constitutional Amendment requiring it to be read before anyone has sex. Yes, even the gay guy.
I have become a Clitoral Evangelist.
The Button explains the clitoris to us all, the structure ( the button is the external part of the clitors, it's much, much bigger on the inside, like a Tardis) and the historical disdain this female pleasure organ has received throughout history. I'm much happier knowing about it and I think you will be too.

An enjoyable review

Perhaps a little behind the current times, or that we are just that "up" on current science, this book felt like an informative review of the woman's pleasure center. A must-read for men and women alike.
