Great Summary

An excellent summary of the battle, and a great introduction for those who are just beginning to explore this tremendous event in our nations history. Everything is covered in adequate detail; however, it was a little thin in its description of Buford’s defense on Day One, as well as General John Reynolds contribution. Also, there was no mention of some notable heroes of the battle, such as Patrick O’Rourke, Strong Vincent, and Joshua Chamberlain. I would highly recommend reading this book, however, before one visit to the battlefield.

A short primer on the battle of Gettysburg

Don’t get fooled by the length of this audiobook. Audible has a few low quality and low effort books that chronicle history in short sessions or bites. This book is not one of them. This book is written by an actual academic historian of the American civil war. This book is quality.
The book tells the story of how the battle of Gettysburg came to be accidentally fought, the strategy that the armies used during the battle, and the aftermath of the area once the armies left. It is a good and easy to understand book. But always be listening because if you daze off you will miss important information that unless you rewind you will not understand what is happening. Every sentence in this book is essential to the story

Well Done

This book was well written. Does not cover it all. But needed for a visit to Gettysburg for the first time.

A very good, short narrative

Though as a short, precise narrative, it lacks in detail, it is an excellent, focused introduction to the Battle of Gettysburg.

Very good summary

We listened in preparation for a visit to Gettysburg Battlefield. Also recommend American Battlefield Trust resources.

Excellent.

Well written, and well read. This review needs 15 words to be accepted...how about that.
