Publisher's Summary

Although The Alamo fell in the early morning of March 6, 1836, the death of the Alamo defenders has come to symbolize courage and sacrifice for the cause of liberty. The memories of James Bowie, Davy Crockett, and William B. Travis are as powerful today as when the Texan Army routed Santa Anna to the cry "Remember the Alamo!" This book is more than a tribute to those who fell defending the mission. It is a thoroughly researched, vividly illustrated, objective description of the circumstances building up to and leading from that stand. By using contemporary writings, this history describes the political and military organizations of both sides, the weapons and equipment available to them, and the enduringly famous personalities involved, creating a vivid picture of this dramatic battle and the period in which it was fought.

Great Listen

I could hardly wait for the CD to begin every time I got in the car. Then my wife did the same when she listened to it. The historical characters and scenes were enhanced that gives otherwise mundane events real life and feeling. I did not feel that historical events were altered with the author’s enhancements. The Alamo felt a bit like listening to a novel. Very enjoyable.

The Alamo.

I am a History Buff. I love it. I have in the past watched just about every movie or documentary there was on the Alamo, but I still found this to be very interesting and kept my attention. I would recommend this book to anyone that has an interest in history.

well worth the credit used

I enjoyed the move that was based on this book, so I decided to give the Audio book a try... and was not disappointed, the Audio book is Great, and fills in many of the details the movie lacked. I think the one was well worth the credit used to get it.
