Publisher's summary

Roza Shanina's biography reads like a comic book hero come to life, a heroic female assassin fighting off the Nazi forces at the height of World War II. Seeking vengeance for the death of her brother, Roza Shanina sacrificed her life for service in the Red Army's fight against the invading Nazis during World War II. This book chronicles how she became the most feared sniper during this time, earning the nickname the "unseen terror" while registering over 56 confirmed kills and becoming a hero to the Russian people before her death in 1945.

Decent listen...

I am very interested in the WWII battles fought in Russia, so I was excited to find this audiobook, which was a brief overview of a famous WWII Russian sniper.
While the information contained was interesting, it seemed incomplete and felt like someone was reading Wikipedia to me. While it did contain some personal information derived from a diary and other documents, I would have liked to know more detailed history of Roza's actions, battles, etc.

Narration was better than the information contained.
Overall, it was entertaining and I learned a few new facts.

Interesting subject

Sorry I wasted a credit. It could’ve been better if a little more effort had been applied.

3.5 stars

3.5/5 Stars Roza Shanina Russian Sniper by Robert Corrigan
Narrated by Kay Webster
Run Time: 38 mins
Genre: Biography
Summary:
This is a very short news article style tale of one of Russia’s most successful female snipers.

Additional Comments:
• Felt like a really long book report.
• The lady has an incredibly interesting life, but the clinical way this is told makes it feel like 8 degrees of separation. It’s very hard to connect to her as a person, a woman, a soldier, a patriot who fought for—and ultimately died—for her country.
• Even with it being very short, parts meandered off away from her tale. It would have been way more interesting if told as historical fiction or fictionalized history with quotes from her journal entries.

Conclusion:
Despite it’s shortcomings, it’s an intriguing tale and worth listening to.
