President Franklin Roosevelt Radio Addresses

This is a collection of radio addresses by U.S. president Franklin Delano Roosevelt, known as fireside chats. I purchased this title because Mr. Roosevelt led the U.S. when my grandparents were growing up. I wanted to hear what one of America's greatest presidents had to say.

While I have given this title 5 stars for completely valid reasons, I would like to make one thing clear. I have noticed that in some of the digitizations of the president's recordings, not much or any effort was made to remove record noise. Due to the fact that noise reduction software has existed for years i.e. in digital audio editors, I am surprised that record noise is so evident. This is a great listen despite the above mentioned deficiency. I highly recommend this title for people like myself who enjoy learning about American history.

fascinating and then you get shaken with context

this is a great collection and worth the price... that said the context added before and after every fireside chat is a bit unnecessary (and spoils what's to come)... also the horns of the speech institute (or whatever the hell they're called) theme music comes on twice per chat so at best it's tedious... if you get lulled into a trance by FDR's folksy chat and the vinyl pops the theme music crashing in after the chat can be jarring... twice i got a good audio jump scare.

Experiencing history

Awesome collection of FDR's fireside chats. These detail steps taken to help the tanking economy during the depression, to how the US is managing and then its entry into WWII. I was thoroughly fascinated listening to arguably one of our finest chief executives.
